UN Syria resolution must include possibility of sanctions, military threat must be maintained - Hollande

A vote on a UN resolution framing the Russia-US deal on removing Syria's chemical weapons could take place by the end of next week, French President François Hollande has said.

However, any such resolution must allow for the possibility of sanctions if Syria fails to comply, Hollande said in an interview with French television.

According to him, the best way to remove Assad from power is if Russia-US deal helps create wider political solution.
