Former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison- Madueke ally Jide Omokore being arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for money laundering at FederalHigh Court in Abuja today

Omokore and Andrew Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, are being arraigned by the EFCC before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja on four counts of Money Laundering.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has rearrested oil magnate, Jide Omokore, and will most likely slam money laundering charges on him today (Monday).

An official briefed on the matter said the businessman would be arraigned alongside Andrew Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, who has also been picked up.

Our sources said the duo would be charged before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja on a four-count charge of money laundering.

The reader is reacting to my recent Facebook update in which I confessed to being spoilt in posh, capitalist restaurants in the Lekki – Victoria Island axis by my friend, Mrs. Kike Akin-Davies, whenever I’m in Nigeria.

National Crime Agency (NAC) of the United Kingdom has confirmed the arrest of four persons, including Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources Allison-Madueke, for international bribery and corruption.


Ex petroleum minister have been granted Bail in UK and her passport seized as she was ask to report at Charing cross police on Monday.


A statement on NCA’s website revealed that the arrests were made by its newly formed International Corruption Unit.
