United States condemns Abuja bomb blasts

According to a release from the embassy of the United States in Abuja, the U.S. Government has condemned Friday’s bomb blasts in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.

A statement by Sean McIntosh of American Embassy in Abuja, said the U.S. government strongly condemned the multiple explosions in the Nyanya and Kuje areas of Abuja on October 2, as well as the suicide bombings and militant attacks in Maiduguri and Adamawa on October 1, Nigeria’s independence anniversary.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and injured,” the statement said.

Senate President Saraki Condemns Abuja Bomb Blasts, Advocates Increased Intelligence Gathering

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Saturday condemned the bomb explosions in the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kuje and Nyanya, while calling on Security agencies to step up intelligence gathering activities.

Saraki in a statement Signed by his Media Office in Abuja, urged Nigerians not to panic, as the renewed attacks are signs that the days of Boko Haram are numbered.

He commended the security agencies for their quick response to the incidents in Nyanya and Kuje, especially the prompt evacuation of both the dead and injured to medical facilities where they are receiving needed for medical attention.

The Nigerian Presidential delegation comprising of Chief of Staff Abba Kyari, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir David Lawal and others visited the scenes of the bomb blast and hospitals where the injured are undergoing treatment.

Aside sending the delegation to the scene of the Abuja bomb blast and Hospital, President Muhammedu Buhari has also through his Twitter hand "@MBuhari" identified with the victims of the dastardic Boko Haram acts.

Several people feared dead as bomb blasts rock Abuja

Two satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have been rocked by powerful bomb explosions in which scores of innocent people are feared to have died.

Several bombs detonated in the Kuje, Jikowyi, Maraba and Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Area of Abuja, shattering the peaceful atmosphere that had reigned in Abuja for more than a year.

The explosions occured almost simultaneously around midnight at the Kuje Market and the vicinity of Nyanya Police Station.

“The National Emergency Management Agency has deployed its rescue teams in the evacuation of the victims to various hospitals. The explosions which occured almost simultaneously have resulted in a number of deaths and injuries but the rescue operations coordinated by NEMA is still ongoing,” NEMA Press Officer Manzo Ezekiel said in a terse statement.


SaharaReporters reports that : Today’s bomb attacks seemed to have been predicted in tweets by one “Chima Okoro63” who posted several tweets on October 1, 2015, stating that Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram planned to bomb police, navy and army formations and kill many security agents.

It is unclear whether Nigeria’s security agents were aware of the tweets or if they took any action based on them.
