This was the crux of the message I took on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Emergency Management Agency Summit in Maiduguri, today.


One of the effects of the Boko Haram Insurgency is that many of our citizens have become Internally Displaced.

For President Buhari and I, there is the outrage and anger that we feel about the mindless killings, abductions and wanton destruction perpetrated by Boko Haram.

Why Boko Haram Terrorists Detonate Bomb In Abuja

Multiple bomb explosion hit the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja  last night. the release of prisoners in Kuje prison was reported to be the motive behind Kuje, Nyanya bombing’.

The  Bombing explosions were said to have been carried out by a female suicide bomber who attempted hitting the Kuje police station at about 9:51pm and a second blast from a suicide bomber on a motorcycle who detonated explosives in front of the Kuje market, killing dozens of people 15 minutes later while the last was detonated at the Nyanya  near Abuja .

According to the reports, the target of the bombing was the freeing of some Boko Haram prisoners that were incarcerated at the Kuje prisons, alluding to the fact that the Nyanya bombing which occurred was meant to be a decoy.

Kuje Bombing was said to have shaken several buildings and sent many residents scampering for cover and several people reported dead.

Several people feared dead as bomb blasts rock Abuja

Two satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have been rocked by powerful bomb explosions in which scores of innocent people are feared to have died.

Several bombs detonated in the Kuje, Jikowyi, Maraba and Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Area of Abuja, shattering the peaceful atmosphere that had reigned in Abuja for more than a year.

The explosions occured almost simultaneously around midnight at the Kuje Market and the vicinity of Nyanya Police Station.

“The National Emergency Management Agency has deployed its rescue teams in the evacuation of the victims to various hospitals. The explosions which occured almost simultaneously have resulted in a number of deaths and injuries but the rescue operations coordinated by NEMA is still ongoing,” NEMA Press Officer Manzo Ezekiel said in a terse statement.


SaharaReporters reports that : Today’s bomb attacks seemed to have been predicted in tweets by one “Chima Okoro63” who posted several tweets on October 1, 2015, stating that Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram planned to bomb police, navy and army formations and kill many security agents.

It is unclear whether Nigeria’s security agents were aware of the tweets or if they took any action based on them.

Abuja Shopping Mall Bombing, Many Died as Soldiers Arrest One Suspect

The explosion which occurred at a major shopping mall, Emab Plaza, in Wuse 2, Abuja claimed many lives.
A witness said the explosion ‎occurred at about 4p.m at Emab Plaza, a busy shopping mall in the highbrow area of Nigeria’s capital city, on Aminu Kano Crescent.

This is the third deadly explosion in the Nigerian capital in two months. The extremist Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the two explosions in April and May in Nyanya, a suburb of the capital.

Reports has it that the Nigerian soldiers have killed one of the suspected bombers and arrested another. 

IGP pledges to arrest culprits of Jos bomb blast

Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has promised that the Nigerian Police will arrest culprits of Tuesday’s twin bomb explosions in Jos. The Police chief gave the assurance at the premises of the Jos University Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, when he visited victims at the hospitals.

Jos was thrown into pandemonium on Tuesday when two bombs went off in quick succession killing about 200 persons according to body counts by emergency and health officials. Mr. Abubakar said the police have commenced investigations into the incident, with the intention of arresting the culprits.

“No government can tolerate this kind of situation anywhere, this is an unfortunate situation. We must get to the root of this, that is why Mr. President has sent me to assess the situation,” he said. “I want to appeal to the people of Plateau state to continue to be patient. I want Plateau people to collaborate with security agents to enable us unmask those behind this bombing,” the IG stated.

The Nigerian Minister of Defence,  General Aliyu Gusau (rtd), has called for greater collaboration among the armed forces in the fight against Islamist Boko Haram insurgents in the country, speaking on Monday in Abuja at a dinner and award night to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, and also to honour the Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, on his elevation.

Gusau, who commended the Nigerian Air Force for its support and participation in “operations” within and outside Nigeria,, said the Nigerian Air Force, in the last 50 years, had proved itself to be a competent force to rely on and reckon with in the continent.

UPDATES: Explosion Rocks FCT, Abuja, Over 200 Reportedly Killed

President Jonathan extends his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families, adding that  he too was saddened by loss of lives in the scene.

More than 200 people are feared dead in an explosion which rocked an outskirts of Abuja, the Nigerian capital, this morning. The explosion sounded in a highly populated motor park in Nyanya, less than five minutes drive from the Abuja city Centre. It is not clear yet how the bomb was ferried into the park, but witnesses suspect it was planted by a suicide bomber.

Several dead bodies now litter the blood spattered park and the expressway leading to the city. Some of the dead victims and the injured are being taken to hospital by ambulances and vans belonging to the police, the Vehicle Inspection Office, Federal Road Safety Commission, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the National Emergency Management Agency.

Our reporter counted more than 50 bodies that were yet to be evacuated. But witnesses said more than 150 bodies may have been moved before our reporter’s arrival.

Some of the bodies are mangled beyond recognition.

Several vehicles, including about 12 government-owned high capacity buses operated by the Abuja Mass Transit Company Limited, were destroyed in the attack. Some of the buses were said to be loaded with passengers when the explosion occurred.

The Nigerian President Jonathan has directs the medical services to do their very best to save the lives of those injured in Nyanya bombing. He has also ordered heightened security in Abuja following Nyanya bombing.

The President extends his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families, adding that  he too was saddened by loss of lives in the scene.

NEMA Reports Pipeline Fire Outbreak Near Redeem Christian Church of God Camp On Lagos Ibadan Expressway

National Emergency Management Agency reports a fire outbreak at Ogijo-Ilara near the Redeem Christian Church of God camp on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The agency said pipeline vandals and fuel thieves broke the pipeline attached their hose and stayed at a nearby creek to avoid getting caught. 

However, the pipeline caught fire leading to an alarm that brought NEMA officials and security agencies to scene. NEMA officials said they have now put off the fire.

NEMA provides relief materials to Internally Displaced victims of Kaduna attack

National Emergency Management Agency, on Monday, said it had dispatched relief materials to victims of Kaura Local Government attacks in Kaduna State.

The NEMA Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Illalah, told newsmen in Kaduna that the relief materials were meant to cushion the plight of the displaced victims of the attack.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that unknown gunmen attacked three villages in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday, March 14.
