INEC CHAIRMAN APPOINTS THREE AIDES

To assist him in effectively executing his office, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has appointed three aides.

They are: Professor Bolade Eyinla, Chief Technical Adviser (CTA); Professor Mohammed J. Kuna, Special Assistant (SA); and Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary (CPS).


Until his appointment, Bolade Eyinla was a Professor of History at the University of Ilorin. He was also National Election Expert at the UNDP-DGD.

Ex-INEC Chair Jega Hopes in Technology, Urges Global Attention to Nigeria

Former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has expressed the optimism that increasing use and mastery of technology by the commission would enhance the transparency and credibility of Nigerian elections.

He said despite momentary challenges encountered with the Smart Card Reader in the 2015 general election, its use along with chip-based Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) contributed in a major way to the positive acclaim of the elections.

Osun election will be better than Ekiti – INEC Chairman

Despite widespread applause for the recent Ekiti State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is working hard to make the upcoming Osun State governorship election better, the Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, has said.

He said no effort would be spared to make the Osun election scheduled for August 9, 2014, more qualitative in all aspects than the June 21 Ekiti State election which has been widely acclaimed as the best so far by the Commission. He spoke on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, when the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, H. E. Gu Xiaojie, paid a courtesy visit to the Commission.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega concession to Omisore and PDP blackmail is a crude step to rig the August 9 election in Osun which will be highly resisted even if heaven will fall as INEC removes Akeju as Osun REC and Replaces him with Agbaje.

The reports has it that, barring any last minute change, the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ambassador Toyin Akeju, will this week proceed on leave ahead of the state governorship election slated for August 9, 2014.

INEC Chair: BUYING OF VOTERS’ CARD WOULD BE FUTILE IN 2015

The Nigerian Politicians who buy voters’ cards from unsuspecting members of the public would not be able to use them in the 2015 general elections, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Attahiru Jega has said.

Jega said this is because plans have been concluded to issue all duly registered voters with chip-based permanent Voter Cards swiped with card readers to ensure 100 percent authentication and verification of voters.
