World Press Freedom Day: Dogara Calls For Enhanced Investigative Journalism To Promote Nationalism And Expose Corruption
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, has called on the Nigerian press to put patriotism first in the discharge of their responsibilities in order to constantly place the country in a positive light amongst the comity of nations.
In a press statement signed by his special adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, to mark the World Press Day in Abuja, Dogara also admonished the media to adhere strictly to the ethics of journalism so as to be competitive globally.
Dogara, who praised the Nigerian press for the role it played in the struggle for and enthronement of democracy, however, called on media practitioners to shun ‘desk journalism’ and engage in qualitative investigative journalism that will promote national unity as well as expose rot and corruption in the system in line with the present administration’s change agenda.

Speaker Dogara - 2019 Will Be A Walk Over If APC Delivers On Change Promise
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara, has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that it delivers on its promise of change as this will make reelection in 2019 a walk over for the party.
The Speaker said this when he received a delegation from Delta State APC under the umbrella of Delta APC Contact Committee in his office on Wednesday, according to a statement issued in Abuja by his spokesman, Turaki Hassan.
Dogara noted that nothing could sell the party faster and wider than providing tools of empowerment for Nigerians to thrive in their businesses and daily lives through provision of infrastructure and other needs as promised by the party.
