SP Saraki Seeks Media Partnership to End Economic Recession

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Wednesday urged the media to collaborate with the upper chamber in its efforts aimed at pulling the nation's economy out of recession.

Saraki, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, in Abuja, while presenting a keynote address at the 2016 Awards/Dinner for Senators and Journalists covering the Senate, organized by the Senate Press Corps.

While commending the awardees and organizers of the event, he urged the media to always ensure truth and objectivity in their reportage of events so as to adequately inform and educate the people about the activities of the parliament.

The Senate President stated that the 8th Senate has put adequate processes in place not only to ensure that the 2017 budget is passed in record time but to see a product and quality that Nigerians can be proud of.

Forgery Suit: Senate issues fresh summon on AGF - Punch

The Senate, through its committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, on Tuesday, issued a fresh summon to the Attorney – General of the Federation, who is also the Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami.

Malami was being invited by the senate for instituting a forgery case against the presiding officers of the upper chamber, and two top management staff of the National Assembly.


The senate had first summoned Malami, following a motion moved by Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, who relied on order 14 and 52, to demand the approval of his colleagues for his two prayers including the invitation of the AGF and the genuineness of the rule book.

Dino Melaye’s kinsmen petition CCB, EFCC, ICPC, OTHERS

MEMBERS of the Kogi West People’s Assembly have urged the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to investigate an alleged breach of paragraph 3, Part I of the 5th Schedule to the 1999 Constitution as amended and Section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act by Senator Dino Melaye. The lawmaker represents Kogi West in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

In a petition through their solicitors – Messrs A.Y. Mohammed & Co – to the CCB Chairman, Mr. Sam Saba, the group accused the senator of violating the laws of the land, which bar public office holders from maintaining and operating foreign bank accounts, alleging that the lawmaker has two accounts in the United States (U.S.).

Saraki's Trials:Dino Melaye Pledges Absolute Loyalty to the Senate President

Senator Dino Melaye who is currently representing the people of Kogi West in the Nigeria's Upper Legislative Chamber, Senate, has pledged his absolute loyalty to the embertled Senate President, Senator Olubukola Abubakar Sarak.


Sarak is currently standing trials of a 13 count charges base on false asset declearations at the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja

Melaye took ot his facebook page today and declared that that his total loyalty remained with with Saraki and that only death can take hie loyalty away.

He said : My brother and friend Sen. Bukola Saraki,if you have 1 trillion supporters I'm one,if you have one billion I'm one,if you have one million I'm one,if you have one thousound I'm one if you have ten I'm one,if you have only one supporter I'm one and if you have no single supporter it means I'm dead. No shaking. Four years tooo sure.

Oluremi Tinubu heads Women Affairs as Saraki announces 30 different senate committees for the 8th Senate

The Senate President Bukola Saraki on Wednesday announced the chairmen of about 30 different senate committees for the 8th Senate. 

He is expected to name the chairmen of the remaining committee soon.

The list was read by Saraki during Plenary. He named Senator Ben Murray Bruce as the chairman of the senate committee on privatisation while Oluremi Tinubu heads Women Affairs; Senator Dino Melaye heads the committee on Federal Capital Territory.
