African leaders would give priority to urgent matters of development including the use of fossil fuels and coal to generate power, while also attending to important issues around Climate Change.

This disclosure was expressed today by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, at the ongoing African Development Bank annual general meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, where he and other African leaders spoke at the High Level Roundtable on the theme: Energy and Climate Change.

President Muhammadu Buhari pledged Thursday in London that in furtherance of his administration's ongoing war against corruption, Nigeria will soon begin the full implementation of the principles of the Open Contracting Data Standard.

According to Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina , in Nigeria's country statement to the Anti-Corruption Summit hosted by Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, President Buhari said that the Federal Government will apply the Open Contracting Data Standard to major projects in the oil, transportation, power, health, education and other sectors.

World Bank’s $8b on power, others coming for Nigeria

The World Bank has concluded plans to fund projests in Nigeria an International Development Association and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

In the New partnership strategy with Nigeria, the Africa's largest economy, World Bank will fund projects worth $8 billion (about N1.28 trillion) targeting job creation, social services and good governance.

Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly, World Bank’s Country Director for Nigeria opined that the world bank assistance programes will also include social protection programmes, education, health and water service delivery for the vulnerable Nigerians across the country.
