Ringing the 2015 election this time will be very difficult indeed. Voters will remain until the results of their votes casted are pasted in front of them. And with a more potent competitor, the PDP that was once the only "national party' has further polarized the polity not just on the north-south divide but more dangerously on the religious one. Already some of them have already started calling APC an 'Islamic Party' to put in the Christian psyche the loathe of the party. Yet not acknowledging the fact that PDP especially with the recent South African $9.3m scandal, majority of Muslims believe the party is a CAN party.
With this ugly political scenario in situ, re-endorsing President Jonathan is their greatest political blunder because I know the Muslim North will totally reject him. That means the only option left for PDP to continue is by rigging.
PDP is then the epicenter of the most dreaded religious earthquake or the crater of volcano eruption that can shatter and destroy the nation. Because 2015 is not 2011. In 2011, the benefit of doubt which Jonathan enjoyed in the North is completely eroded by his style of governance.
On the other hand, if APC can go with a more acceptable candidate to the north and south, to the Muslims and Christians, that would be the true winning formula. A candidate that is not 'stigmatized' with religious or tribal stain. A candidate that can mobilize the business community to donate. A candidate that will anesthesize irritable nerves and not stir an anaphylaxis or instill fear to any segment of the society. Such a candidate is a landslide winner.such a candidate is the medicine that can heal the nation.
A lesser winning formula will be any candidate that will appease the Muslim North because they are the direct victims of PDP misrule.
If the North blocks Jonathan from getting a quarter of two third states, any candidate with a simple majority vote will emerge the president. Sokoto, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Bauchi, Niger and kwara.
It will therefore be ugly if the nation will be sharply divided on religious divide. With SW having a silent yet more conscious significant Muslim population probably bordering to majority, Nigeria will ultimately not be good for the same people that are now manipulating the religious card to stay afloat. Worst still there is no such room or possibility of dividing the nation on religious or tribal basis. It's only numbers that can rule Nigeria. Therefore the rigging formula will always be the loser.
As we pray for a stable and peaceful country where every citizen's rights will be guaranteed let us all be fair to ourselves. Let us not allow politicians to erode our lives and the future of our children for their personal greeds.
Nigeria, God Bless our Nation. Amin
