THIS IS NOT ABOUT JONATHAN, BUT YOU

I start by expressing how tired I am commenting on Nigeria. I have spent at least all of forty years, at least all of my post secondary education, canvassing for a better country where the young can look forward to a life where opportunities is equalized for them and you need not know anyone to grab any (or decide on your own to let it pass).

I have friends who left Nigeria because Nigeria consigned them and their intellect and their potentials to the bins for the mere fact that they did not know someone big. That someone big is not a man-mountain weighing 600 lbs but someone who had corrupted the system and stolen so much of the common patrimony that rather than find him inside Kirikiri Prisons, the average Nigerian has to go to such and genuflect and beg for what ought to be rightfully theirs but to be granted crumbs falling of their oppressors' tables.
The disclosure of the Information Minister about what has been recovered is enough for you to think about your stand. If you have been lampooning Buhari, searching for his certificates, deriding him for not going to Ogoni-land, it is time you spare a thought for yourself. Don't get me wrong, there are many, indeed so many, things that the Buhari administration can do better. But if I were you I will concentrate on helping the administration to perform better than continuing in the delusion that "this is not the change you voted for" or any other way you have put it.

Let me give you a taste of what should trouble your mind. The interim report of treasury looting (perhaps of the most recent past) included that the sum of $9,090,243,920.15 (Nine billion, ninety million, two hundred and forty three thousand, nine hundred and twenty Dollars, fifteen cents) is frozen from looters.
* First this was not from 99% of Nigerians but from a mere handful (perhaps including those you worship as heroes).
* But it is grand theft by these one percenters that has denied you your monthly wages from government.
* Such theft has denied you electricity and denied you health
* Such primitive acquisition has denied you and perhaps your kids sound education, good jobs, and the reason you are paying N147 for a litre of petrol.
* I should not waste more time talking about why you cannot sleep well at night because of security fear and all sorts

If I were you, this will be what I will be advocating for over the next three years.
* That anyone with soiled hands does not show up in your neighbourhood campaigning for votes.
* That anyone who campaigns and gets voted has not means or way he/she can dip his hands into your treasury and steal a kobo.
* That there is so much openness and transparency in government that "businessmen" do not hijack the budget and deny you of your basic entitlement from the Nigerian state.
* That (assuming this recovery is from the federal level alone) there be mechanism to turn the searchlight to other tiers such that you can concentrate on making recoveries at the state and local government level as well.
* That (assuming this recovery is from the "witch-hunted" PDP chieftains) we can turn the searchlight on APC, Labour Party, etc and recover from them as much as we can.
* That we can build more prisons across Nigeria and put these thieves therein such that the system do not suffer their presence and pollutants.
* That everyone in Nigeria including you can be made to publicly defend their wealth but more especially the civil servants and other politically exposed persons.
* That our judiciary be made to get to grips and understand that if Nigeria would be better it is in their hands. The judges are their for decades while we rotate politicians every four years. Those with longer tenure can ensure that the rules are obeyed.
* That (assuming the theft is at the executive level of the federal government) we beam searchlight on the legislature and force them to cough out what they swallowed.

...Please add more to this that we may jointly get this country working again. In case of typos and gotchas, forgive me as I have little time to review.
