How Jonathan Hires U.S. Lobby Firm for N195 Million to Launder Image Over Handling of Chibok Abduction

The Nigerian government has come under local and international condemnation over its far-from-impressive handling of the Chibok abduction.

In order to whitewash its inept handling of the kidnap of over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, the Goodluck Jonathan administration has awarded a N195 million ($1.2 million) contract to U.S. Public Relations and lobby firm, Levick, to help change "international and local media narrative" surrounding its efforts to rescue the girls, Washington DC based newspaper, The Hill, reports the awarded contract.

Boko Haram militants kidnapped the girls, who were writing their final examination, more than 70 days ago from their dormitory at the Government Secondary School, Chibok near Maiduguri .

In a video, Boko Haram leader, Abubarka Shekau, threatened to sell the girls into slavery. However the group later offered to swap the girls for Boko Haram fighters held by the government.

Laws are subject to change or amendment but the primitive nature of man would rather die with errors than allow provision for correction.

Under-age marriage of the female child is a practice in certain parts of the world, recognised (accepted) by some religions, traditions, cultures, or laws. It entails the giving out of an underaged child or minor by her parents with or without her consent into marriage. 

Although there are reported cases of underaged male child matrimony, this text encompasses the travails of the female gender and the negative impact on society. Female child underage marriage has no morally justifiable reason in today's civilized world. The analysis is a non-religious, non-biased, or non-political point of view.

Over the past few weeks, the abduction of the school girls at Chibok, Borno State has underscored the threat we have been facing as a nation in recent times from the actions of misguided persons masquerading as adherents of Islam.

Our hearts are with families who have lost loved ones in this cycle of senseless violence. We also empathize with the parents of children whose daughters are in the custody of a group of anarchists.

That horrific video posted on the internet is a clear manifestation of the mindlessness of the bigots. It shows them for whom they are, such men cannot threaten nor should they be allowed to violate our sovereignty. It is clear from what they profess that they are not following God. They do not mean well for our country and her citizens.

I am a Muslim, I am versed in the teaching of Christianity and I understand both religions seek peaceful coexistence of all humanity. I wish to reiterate that there is no justification whatsoever for this unrestrained disregard for the sanctity of human life. It has no place in the Holy Qur'an and neither does it have a place in the Holy Bible.

The abduction of the over two hundred young girls by the Boko Haram terrorist organisation is just the beginning of the unravelling of the ineffectual but criminal administration of Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria.


This administration, like every myopic corrupt governments, underestimated the significance of the abduction saga. Because the Nigerian government has traditionally abdicated its own responsibility to the Nigerian people, preferring rather to concentrate on the "non stop stealing" of public resources and monumental mismanagement of the economy, with the international community appearing to look the other way or impotent in the collapse of governance in the country, the Nigerian administration failed to acknowledge that the West takes seriously any attack on defenseless targets.
