EFCC training for judiciary reporters in Lagos as Don, Others Seek Media Support for Anti-graft War

A lecturer in the School of Communication, Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Lai Osho, has urged journalists to support the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its war against corruption.

He also urged journalists to be more vigorous and professional in investigative reporting as a way of making the anti-graft war a success in the country. 

Speaking at a one-day workshop organised by the EFCC for journalists in Lagos, Osho, who lauded the EFCC’s recently held Nigerian Women Against Corruption (WAC) programme in Abuja, added that investigative reporting would ensure the setting of agenda for the government.

At least five individuals were hurt and ten other arrested on Tuesday as Lagos State University (LASU) students clash with police at Oshodi. The students who were protesting fee hikes by the university authorities, paralysed commercial activities at the ever-busy Oshodi and its environs.

Sources said, at least five persons sustained various degree of injuries, the Student Union President, Comrade Nurudeen Yusuf who led the protest, however said three female students were injured through the alleged use of live ammunition by the police.

Missing gun: Nigerian soldiers storm Lagos community

Soldiers from Ibereko Barracks on the Badagry Expressway, in Lagos State have laid a siege on the Mowo Community in the area, in search of a missing gun. This mroning, the soldiers mounted a post at the bus stop and prevented shop owners from opening for business.

“They are still at the bus stop, they have a check point there before the incident. They went on with their normal business overnight because they always come to the point in the night. This morning, they ordered the closure of every shop at the bus stop, ” a woman said.

Yesterday, it was a near action film for the residents as the unidentified soldiers stormed the community.

LASU Issues deadline date for fees payment; Fresh students pay between N190,000 and N350,000 depending on their faculty

The Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, has fixed Thursday as the deadline for the payment of school fees by its fresh students.

A statement signed by the LASU Public Relations Officer, Kayode Sutton, on Wednesday said that the deadline would not be extended.

The institution warned that only students who paid the school fees would be issued matriculation numbers.

It urged the new students to make all necessary payments on or before the deadline in readiness for their matriculation on Friday.
