Ex Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala speaks on reason for Nigeria's current challenges & profer solutions

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Finance on Thursday said the zero political will to save under former President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the challenges the country is facing.

While speaking at the George Washington University, on "Inequality, growth and resilience," former Minister said the zero political will to save under former President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the challenges the country.

The two-time finance minister said the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) must seek means to embed savings in national constitutions devoid of political manipulations, adding that Nigeria was able to save $22 billion under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, which saved the country in 2008, when there was global economic meltdown.

Boko Haram Threats: Jonathan Deploys 6,000 Troops for WEF Summit
Following the shifting of the battle ground by the Boko Haram Islamist insurgents from the Northeast to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, the Nigeria President , Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the deployment of more than 6,000 police and soldiers to protect Abuja during a World Economic Forum (WEF), holding next month.

President Jonathan's order on Tuesday follows a bombing attack by the suspected Boko Haram militant group at a crowded Nyanya bus station in Abuja on Monday.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Summit will see Heads of state and business leaders from Africa flowing to Abuja between May 7-9.

Sanusi's Suspension: Corruption allegations can't be withdrawn - IKE OKONTA

ABUJA – It was only a matter of time before Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan moved against Lamido Sanusi, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, who has spent much of the last year waging an anti-corruption campaign against the government. But, while Sanusi has been suspended, his corruption allegations cannot be withdrawn – and the public outcry that they have provoked cannot be silenced.
