Anglican leader Justin Welby warns of any Negotiation with Islamist terrorists

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby warned Sunday of the difficulties of negotiating with an “utterly merciless” group Boko Haram, but called for active contact with the Nigerian Islamists over their abduction of scores of schoolgirls.

The Nigerian authorities have been attempting to negotiate with Boko Haram for some time but is it feasible? The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has worked in Nigeria and negotiated with armed groups - including a predecessor of Boko Haram in the north. He talks to the BBC's Shaun Ley.

Boko Haram: Nigerian Army arrest Cameroonian arms dealer in Borno

A Cameroonian national, accused of supplying the Nigerian Islamists, Boko Haram with sophisticated weapons has been arrested by Nigerian military in Balabalge area of Borno State, a security source confirmed the arrest in Maiduguri. The suspect is said to be involved in supplying anti aircraft machine guns to the sect members.

The source, who pleaded anonymity said that the arms dealer is also helping the military with information on how to mop-up dangerous weapons from them. According to him, “The man was arrested in Kalabalge, and so many weapons were recovered from him.
