Official: Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Installed As 14th Emir Of Kano

With all the necessary traditional rites and ceremonies concluded, the Emir of Kano, HRH, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has finally ascended to the Kano Emirate throne as the 14th emir of Kano.

Mallam Sanusi was not only on the recommended list of the kingmakers but was on top of the list presented to the Kano state Government.

To commence the coronation ceremonies of the new Emir, Gov Kwankwaso reads the full text of the letter of appointment to the new Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the 14th Emir of Kano at the African Hall of the Kano state Goverment house and the Governor handed same over to the new Emir.

The princes also pay homages to the new Emir one after the other. While the Kano State Government confirmed that the state has built a befitting building for the large family of the late emir in Sharada. The keys of which will be handed over today to the family to move in.

Kano Government denies reports of new emir

The Kano State Government has denied rumours making the rounds, especially on the social media, that a new emir has been selected to replace late Ado Bayero.

There are widespread reports that the son of the late emir, Sunusi Ado-Bayero, had been selected.

Mr. Bayero is considered a frontline contender for the position, as is a former governor of the Central Bank, Lamido Sanusi.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media, to Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, Jaafar Jaafar, said on  Sunday afternoon that Mr. Kwankwaso was yet to make the announcement.

Ado Bayero used traditional institution to promote peace, progress of Nigeria - Aregbesola

Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has described the death of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, as a huge loss to Nigeria.

In a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, Aregbesola said the news of the demise of one the most prominent traditional rulers in the country was shocking and sad.

The governor said the nation lost the influential Emir at its critical socio-political challenges.

He said that Ado Bayero's death will leave a huge gap in the political, social, security and religious affairs of the nation.
