RESTRUCTURING NIGERIA'S IRRELEVANT OVERBLOATED ACADEMIC CURRICULAR -THE FINLAND EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE

News emanating from Finland months ago has it that she is ready to do away with the conventional traditional education system. That, there won't be subjects. Students will have to study phenomenons, events, ideas and ideals that relate to their academic aspirations only. The implication of this is that - a Geography undergraduate will not do Biology like the doctors; rather he will concentrate fully on Climate Change management and Geomorphology. A student of International Relations too will not do Philosophy more than the Philosophers; rather, he will concentrate on the theory of diplomacy and power tussle in the International Political system. An Architecture student will not do Mathematics more than the Mathematicians, rather, energy will be focused on the poor land scape viewing of most cities including its urban renewal arrangement.

The problem with the Nigerian education system is that it is too rigid to adapt to the rapidity of an advancing and dynamic system of intellection especially with the over bloated curricular been taught in most Nigerian Universities with no relevance to the day to day happenings in the modern world.

BUHARI’S CHANGE AND THE PDP ENCULTURATED CIVIL SERVICE

Indeed 16 years is a long time in the life of a nation. You can transform a nation in 16 years but it can take a lesser time to destroy it. Nations cities like Singapore and Dubai were transformed within 15 years. Singapore was a poor nation and Dubai was only a desert 17 years ago. But you can imagine the amazing transformation they have gone through in 16 last years.

But while these nations were being transformed, Nigeria in the last 15 years was being destroyed by a group of money and material thirsty criminals who not only plundered its wealth but also destroyed the institutional fabrics required for nation’s development. About a 90 percent of those who governed Nigeria at various levels in the last 16 years under the PDP acted like vampires. If you seat to think of what they did to Nigeria, you will surely cry.

World leaders’ summit: Mu’azu, Obanikoro, others’ extradition tops Buhari’s wish list

The diplomatic process that will ensure the extradition of suspected looters who have fled the country will dominate President Muhammadu Buhari’s discussions with his counterparts when 60 world leaders meet in the United Kingdom next month.
It was learnt on Friday that the President would at the summit explore ways of bringing to the country politicians who were being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

It was gathered that the outcome of the summit would speed up the extradition of individuals, including a former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro; a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; and a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Force, Abdulrasheed Maina.

Others are the ex-Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; her son, Ugonna; and a former Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, whose house was raided in Abuja in January by the EFCC.

Plane Crash: Missing Malaysia Airlines flight presumed crashed

A yet to be located Malaysia Airlines carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew has gone missing over the South China Sea, presumed crashed. 

Search and rescue teams from countries closest to the missing plane's flight path had been sent to scour a large area near its last known location. 

More than a dozen Malaysian planes are involved in the search and rescue mission and about nine ships from the same country. Singapore and Vietnam are also involved in the mission.
