It is nice to be back here again after our last release which was early hour of this week Wednesday.

The Fantastically Corrupt Chief James Onanefe Ibori, Former Executive Governor of Delta State, who was arrested in Dubai and extradited to United Kingdom to face criminal proceedings for money laundering is now back. 

The man is finally back home, having completed his jail term in far away Britain. During his arrival, as our team began to upload the pictures of the superlative and befitting welcome back from jail, he received from his people, we were at loss!

HMMNNN!!! So, all these people went out there to welcome back a convicted and jailed thief! No wonder, Delta State is grossly underdeveloped when compared with the amount of money in billions acruing to the State as allocation from Federal Government. Delta State being an oil producing State, has an allocation far more when compared to a State like Kwara. However, a journey around various communities within that State, reveals so much poverty, backwardness, deprivation and squalor. James Ibori, via his 8 years rule as Executive Governor of Delta State, contributed immensely to ensuring that Delta State Citizens remain poor, yet people of his State celebrated him on his arrival from Prison he served in United Kingdom! 

CLARIFICATION ON THE LIBEL ALLEGATION AGAINST THE PREMIUM TIMES - ARMY

The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to erroneous impressions and insinuations on a libel case against the Premium Times to whip up sentiments .

Therefore, we wish to clarify that the issue at hand is purely allegation of libel in which Premium Times falsely and unjustifiably accused the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, of false declaration of assets, owning mansions and estates in Dubai and further stated that he was being investigated by Code of Conduct Bureau for false declaration of assets in their publication of 12th December 2015.

Consequently, concerted efforts were made to make Premium Times retract the story and apologize, to no avail. As a law-abiding citizen, he took appropriate legal steps of seeking redress through the courts.

The impoverished, chronically unstable country is an island and has a ‘Jammeh’ monitored coastline, literally making the country a perfect hotspot for drug smugglers. Interestingly, President Jammeh who took power of the country through a military coup in 1994 was elected in 1996, and reelected in 2001, 2006, and 2011 but lost the 2016 polls, and other high-ranking Gambian officials to include those in the Police and in the Army have been linked to different drug cartels and arms trade.

ABUJA—Following recent disclosure by some senior officers of the Nigerian Army, including the 38 officers sacked by the Army Council for alleged complicity and partisanship in the 2015 general election, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has dared those not satisfied with the process to go to court. 

Buratai admitted that some of the officers had petitioned the Army Council and other quarters over their alleged unjust retirement, insisting that due process was followed to the letter. 

Speaking on the allegations regarding his family’s purchase of houses in Dubai and that of the alleged purchase of refurbished weaponry and logistics equipment which were presented as brand new, the Army Chief described such allegations as the handiwork of cyber and internet terrorists who had been defeated on land at the epicenter of Boko Haram insurgency.

Stupid is What Stupid Does: Nigerian Govt Orders Sack of Striking Doctors - Kayode Adebayo

Nigerian public office holders think and act stupid. They lack crisis management techniques. This is the same stupid solution that Babatunde Fashola adopted, when doctors were striking in Lagos State a few years back. He ordered the sack of the striking doctors, just like Adebowale. Like I said at the time, foreign governments and companies would snatch some of them up quickly. Saudi Arabia and Dubai are good example of countries that offer good pay to Nigerian doctors. Nigeria has only 35,000 medical doctors and needs at least 237,000 doctors to be comfortable. Instead of Nigerian public officials trying to work with striking doctors, they act stupid by firing them and eventually losing some of them to foreign countries. They will never learn.

COUNTERFEIT TRAVELERS CHEQUES: EFCC arraigns Suspect on 3-count charges

The EFCC, on Monday June 20, 2016, arraigned Favour Omeigba Bello (F) before Justice (Prof) Chuka Augustine Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Lagos State, Ikoyi on 3-count charge bordering on attempt to export counterfeit, Possession of counterfeit and forgery. 

The accused, Bello, was arrested by officials of the NDLEA on January 16, 2016 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, during the outward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airline to Dubai and was later transferred to the EFCC for further investigation.

Indeed 16 years is a long time in the life of a nation. You can transform a nation in 16 years but it can take a lesser time to destroy it. Nations cities like Singapore and Dubai were transformed within 15 years. Singapore was a poor nation and Dubai was only a desert 17 years ago. But you can imagine the amazing transformation they have gone through in 16 last years.

But while these nations were being transformed, Nigeria in the last 15 years was being destroyed by a group of money and material thirsty criminals who not only plundered its wealth but also destroyed the institutional fabrics required for nation’s development. About a 90 percent of those who governed Nigeria at various levels in the last 16 years under the PDP acted like vampires. If you seat to think of what they did to Nigeria, you will surely cry.

REVEALED: Politicians who visited Aso Rock in the past were given $100, 000 – Presidency

Senator Babafemi Ojudu

The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu has revealed that under previous administrations, a chief or politician who pays a visit to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa is handed $100,000 or $50,000 when leaving.

Speaking in an interview with Leadership newspapers, the presidency official, however, pointed out that his principal has put a stop to the practice as such cash gifts are now diverted into productive services and the provision of infrastructure.

In the words of Ojudu, “In the past, somebody would come to Aso Rock, a chief or a politician. And they package $100,000, $50,000 for him. The man gets back to his hotel room, dashes his driver $500, dashes his PA $1,000, his girl friend $200. This has stopped. Such money must go into productive services, medical services, infrastructure etc.
