HOW TROOPS AMBUSH BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS - ARMY

Following information of suspected Boko Haram elements crossing point across Maiduguri-Bulabulin-Damboa road, troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion, both of 25 Task Force Brigade, staged a deliberate ambush against the terrorists logistics elements on motorcycles and bicycles crossing from Sambisa forest to Alagarno general area around Nyaleri yesterday night.

During the operation, the troops killed 2 Boko Haram terrorists, wounded several others and recovered some arms, ammunitions and other items.

In continuation of Operation CRACKDOWN deep inside Sambisa forest, troops have arrested one of the declared wanted Boko Haram terrorists leaders, and also conducted patrols and clearance operations within the theatre of operations.

According to the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman: "At about 1.35pm yesterday troops of 143 Battalion arrested one Sulaiman Umaru, a suspected Boko Haram terrorists group member whose photograph is on the poster containing the photographs of the 100 Boko Haram terrorists declared wanted. He has since been moved to 28 Task Force Brigade Headquarters for further investigation."

"Troops of 21 Brigade have continued with the clearance operations at Yerimari, while troops of 22 Task Force Brigade Garrison have also embarked on patrols along Dikwa–Mafa-Maiduguri road. The patrol was aimed at picketing the road to keep it safe and open."

France to increase troop numbers in Ivory Coast after beach attack

(Reuters) - France will nearly double the number of troops it has in Ivory Coast, the defence minister said on Saturday on a visit during which he laid flowers at the site of an attack on tourists that killed 19 people.

Jean-Yves Le Drian placed a bouquet on the beach in Grand Bassam, a resort town 40 km (25 miles) from Abidjan, where gunmen shot swimmers and sunbathers before storming hotels last month, an attack claimed by Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. Four French citizens were killed.

Troops stop planned Boko Haram strike in Borno, eliminate 20 of them

The Nigerian Troops in Borno state have stop  a planned Boko Haram attack in some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 
The Military claims that the twenty members of the Islamist terrorist group lose their live in the encounter. 

President Goodluck Jonathan  has ordered the Nigerian Armed Forces to comb the Rugu Forest and get rid of militants launching deadly attacks in surrounding states.

Crimea: Putin deploys 8,500 troops for artillery drills as US gives supports to Ukraine

Russia’s Defense Ministry has launched massive artillery drills in the Southern Military District involving some 8,500 troops and a large amount of hardware. 

This is coincides with war games conducted by the country’s Airborne Troops. Russian artillery units are to be deployed in 10 ranges as part of the training, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. 

South African soldiers robbed in South Sudan

A group of South African soldiers was robbed in South Sudan during a peacekeeping mission, the SA Navy said on Thursday

"There was no loss of life, but some of their equipment was taken away from them," Captain Jaco Theunissen told Sapa.

He said the troops were on a convoy when they were ambushed on Saturday.

Theunissen was unable to say how many troops were there at the time, and what sort of equipment was stolen.

"We don't want to speculate. We are just waiting for more information from the investigation [team]."
