Tripoli - Libyan capital under Islamist control after airport seized

Operation Dawn captures airport in fierce fighting against pro-government militias after five-week siege in the capital

Libya has lurched ever closer to fragmentation and civil war this weekend after Islamist-led militias seized the airport in the capital, Tripoli, proclaimed their own government, and presented the world with yet another crisis.

Operation Dawn, a coalition of Islamist and Misrata forces, captured the airport on Saturday in fierce fighting against pro-government militias after a five-week siege that battered parts of the capital.

Television images from the scene showed jubilant, bearded, militias dancing on wrecked airliners, firing machine guns in the air and chanting "Allah O Akbar" ("God is great").

Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today: Get set to move ahead of the crowd!

“And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.” (2 Kings 9: 5).

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the trainee-prophet that was sent by Elisha came to Ramothgilead, he found Jehu seated with other captains. Jehu was sitting among his contemporaries; he was among his equals; he was in the midst of people who were on the same level with him. He was in the midst of his colleagues.

Notice that Jehu was called out from among his fellow captains, and anointed as King.  He was called out from among his mates, and was elevated above them. He got the kingship ahead of his colleagues.

They all began as colleagues and contemporaries, but in a matter of time, Jehu was ahead of the crowd.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will be raised ahead of your contemporaries; you will be promoted above your colleagues; you will be raised above people on the same level with you; God will place you ahead of the crowd; you might still be in their midst, but you are about to be raised ahead of them.

APC uncovers plan to relaunch acronym battle against party ahead of 2015 elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over a plan by unscrupulous and apparently-hired hands to relaunch the acronym battle against the party by seeking to register three new parties that bear the acronyms of the same parties that merged to become the APC.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said those behind the phantom parties, who are apparently working at the behest of people who have a mortal fear of the APC, have applied to INEC to register the Allied Council of Nigeria (ACN); Advanced National Patriotic Party (ANPP) and Conservative People's Congress (CPC).

INSPIRATIONAL: WHAT LIFE IS... BY FEMI AKINWUNMI

Life is difficult, life is unfair, life is challenging and sometimes painful. And life is so very good.

There are frustrations, tragedies, disappointments, setbacks, heartbreaks, and absurdities. The simple joy of being outweighs them all.

Life is good, because within its realm, anything is possible. Life is good, because no matter how far you fall, there is always a way to climb back up again.

You can complain, fret and worry about all the problems in your life, but you’ll be wasting your time. Or, you can choose to focus on why and how life is so good, and on what you can do to take that goodness and make it even better.

Not only is life good, it’s uniquely good for you in your very own way. The possibilities for expressing your purpose are limited only by your imagination.

Remind yourself often of the great and wonderful value that you already, always have. Life is good, and in this moment that’s bursting with possibilities, life is yours.
