Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today: Get set to move ahead of the crowd!

“And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.” (2 Kings 9: 5).

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When the trainee-prophet that was sent by Elisha came to Ramothgilead, he found Jehu seated with other captains. Jehu was sitting among his contemporaries; he was among his equals; he was in the midst of people who were on the same level with him. He was in the midst of his colleagues.

Notice that Jehu was called out from among his fellow captains, and anointed as King.  He was called out from among his mates, and was elevated above them. He got the kingship ahead of his colleagues.

They all began as colleagues and contemporaries, but in a matter of time, Jehu was ahead of the crowd.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will be raised ahead of your contemporaries; you will be promoted above your colleagues; you will be raised above people on the same level with you; God will place you ahead of the crowd; you might still be in their midst, but you are about to be raised ahead of them.
Are there people who are on the same level with you? Are there colleagues, contemporaries, equals, etc that are familiar with you? Get set, you are going ahead of them.
You may have been mates for a while, but you are not necessarily destiny mates.

It may not be fair to them, but that is the nature of God’s favour.

Psalm 75 vs. 7 says it all: “But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” When God raises you ahead of your contemporaries, just accept it and don’t bother explaining to anyone.
Get set to move ahead of the crowd; get set to be raised above your contemporaries.

Pray With Me: Lord, raise me above my contemporaries, in Jesus’ name!
