BRIEF OBSERVATIONS ABOUT OUR HOSPITALS - Fasehun Toniprof

I remember taking a client to the hospital some months ago and demanded that the bedsheet be changed. The nurses told me that it will only be changed on Monday since it was a Saturday. Does that mean the bedsheets are changed once in a week? I had to go back home to pick a blanket and bedsheet.

Now I imagine what other patients would have been subjected to. I imaging how safe maternity ward, children ward and trauma ward are. There are housekeepers aside nurses in the wards. Lets assume the housekeepers are ignorant, how about the nurses? If hospitals are not clean, how safe are the treatment and lives of the patients?
More worrisome is the attitude of many old nurses who often use personal will and discretion that contradict the instructions of the doctor (especially when the doctor is young). In short, I am sure insult is not in the Nursing course content and I wonder why many of them shout on the sick.

As for mortuary staff, they are as heartless as the dead. No wonder many of our aged always warn their children against taking them to the morgue. We have seen rats and rodents feeding in the noses and ears of some corpses just because they are not well preserved. Who says the dead do not deserve some respect too? Knocking on the door three times is not what I mean, lol.

The problem with our hospital goes beyond poor funding. The personnel need to inculcate the ethics of the profession and uphold utmost standard. Safety of lives should be valued because there is nothing as good as saving a life. If not by his grace, it can be you...
