IGBOS, THE PROBLEM OF SELF DOUBT (AND OTHER MATTERS) - OZODI OSUJI

My ego doubts itself and sees bad things happening to me. What I expect I experience. Some people’s egos expect good things to happen to them and what they expect they receive, good things.

Generally speaking, what one expects is what one gets; expect good and get good or expect bad and receive bad. Apparently, something in us brings to us what we expect; the world reflects our beliefs; what we believe is mirrored for us to see.

One’s world is ones beliefs projected out for one to see and experience. Our collective world is the collective projections of all humanity. The world reflects our thinking; in fact, the world was produced by our mutual thinking.

If one has self-doubt one is unable to make up one’s mind and go do anything and expect to succeed at it; one vacillates, fence sits, is wishy washy, unsure, lacking in self-confidence, indecisive and not doing anything with confidence; the result is that one fails in life.

If one has tremendous self-doubt, as I do, one is likely to fail in life despite ones level of intelligenc and education. It takes self-assurance, confidence for one to succeed in this world.
My father failed because he lacked self-confidence. He was a man with extraordinary intelligence, I estimate his IQ to be over 150, a man who would sit with us talking about the stars and such abstract phenomenon yet he did not make it in the world. He had the Hamlet syndrome; he was always thinking issues through; he was never sure what was the right way to go; he was always vacillating and unable to make up his mind what to do; I am sure that that indecisiveness of his made him not bold hence his apparent failure in the world.

I have the same problem; given my smarts I ought to be a billionaire or something. I must get rid of my self-doubt. But how do I do it? By trusting in me? What me, is it the ego me or the Christ me .

Talking about doubt, remember Rene Descartes famous quip: cogito ergo sum? I think, therefore, I am. Descartes doubted everything and was a skeptic but said that because he thinks he knows that he exists; and if he exists God must exist! His logic here is quite a stretch...I am not doing philosophy here; I used to tear him apart in my courses on philosophy...David Hume is a good place to understand induction and deduction in logical reasoning.

AFFIRMING YOURSELF AS THE SON OF GOD IS HONESTY; DENYING IT IS ARROGANCE

God is total power. Since I am part of him I have his power. I call on his power and use it to do whatever I want to do and that is my entitlement as his son. It is not arrogant to say that one is a son of God, a part of God for that is the truth. As part of God, and since God is total power, one is entitled to that power.

EGO ARROGANCE OF USURPING GOD’S POWER

The ego takes God’s power without his permission and misuses it to miscreate the world of flesh whereas God creates the world of spirit. The Holy Spirit recreates with light/love the ego world invented by the ego; he beautifies what egos made on earth.

PLATO’S PERFECT ARCHITYPES ARE FROM THE WORLD OF LIGHT FORMS

Plato (see his Republic, for example) is generally considered a political idealist as opposed to Aristotle who is considered a political realist. Aristotle took the empirical world he saw with his eyes and made the most of it without wishing for ideal, perfect alternative to it. On the other hand, Plato saw the ugliness of the world and posited his notion that there are ideal, perfect architypes of whatever we see on earth in the world of spirit (that is, each of us, imperfect human being, has a perfectMalternative of him in the spiritual world; as Plato saw it, our earthly job is to improve ourselves until we approximate our perfect versions in spirit land). Idealism is belief that there are alternative ideals of the ugly things, ourselves included, we see on earth, and that in our behaviors we ought to become those perfect versions of us; idealism leads to judgmentalness, for one must be judging ones and other people’s behavior to see if they approximate the so-called perfect architype of how they ought to behave.

The scientist, the empiricist, the materialist says that we are only what we see with our eyes and that there is no perfect version of us in the ethereal world; thus we must make the most of our imperfect selves and imperfect behaviors and quit judging ourselves with imaginary ideals.

Accept the imperfect you as you are; make the most of today for tomorrow we die and that is our end, said the Roman Stoic and epicurean philosopher, Horace (the right quotation is: seize the day, Carpe Diem).

Generally, the idealist sees empirical reality as it is, ugly, and uses his imagination to construe alternative ideal versions of reality and wishes to bring it into being. I am an idealist; in my college years I appreciated the depravities of Western civilization, especially capitalism and used my imagination to

convince myself that socialism is the best economic system. The abuses of the USSR, of course, made me rethink my socialism. Nowadays, I call myself a democratic socialist who believes in mixed economy (see John Maynard Keynes economic ideas; they appeal to me).

Plato’s ideal architype, perfection, is in the world of light forms hence is real. Plato saw the perfect versions of things on earth in the world of light forms, the world remade from our world by the Holy Spirit; he was not just making noise, as philosophical realists tend to dismiss him as doing (Francis Bacon, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, English realists, dismantled Plato’s idealism; John bull prides himself on being an empiricist and not soft idealistic German thinkers, such as Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche).

Idealists’ sense that what exists on earth has perfect versions of them in the spirit world (my correction, in the light world) is correct; their mistake is to believe that they can bring those ideals to our ugly earth.

The earth is inherently imperfect; whatever is in matter must be imperfect. Our bodies are made of matter and therefore must remain imperfect. Regardless of your wishes everything made of matter cannot be perfect.

My grandfather used to tell me that you can wash the human anus with all the soap in this world and it would still smell of feces. The world, social institutions and people cannot be made perfect; deal with that reality and give up your wild fantasies, the old man told his favorite grandson, me. But my mind still gravitates to German idealistic philosophy!

NEW AGE RELIGIONS AFFIRM STATEMENTS AND WANT THEM TO BE TRUE IN THEIR LIVES

American new age religions, such as Unity Church and Church of Religious Science, affirm statements like: I am God; I am not body. It is as if they believe that what they affirm becomes true! If they really believe that they are God and behave like God, love all creation, they would transcend body and not live in body and not die.

But if they affirm that they are not body and live like body they are not going to obtain the benefits of their affirmation, for it is then mere magical thinking.

If you believe in the notion that you are a son of God (God is the whole universe and you are not God for you are not the whole universe, you are always a part of the universe hence a part of God but not the entirety of God; to see you as God is delusional) it, and believe that God is powerful and as his son you are powerful you will get a sense of being powerful. You are empowered to the extent that you believe in God.

As brother Jesus told us, by the power of God in one, one can do most things but by one’s power alone one can do nothing, for as an individual one has no power. All power derives from God. (If put in scientific language, it goes like this:, the entire universe enables you to do what you do but you cannot do anything without the cooperation of other things in the universe; for example, try to raise your arm when the wind is blowing hard and you cannot succeed; you need the wind to cooperate with you for you to raise your hand.)

The world came into being to manifest our ego beliefs (n specialness and separation) and can change to manifest Christ, Holy Spirit beliefs (in love and union).

NO EGO DEFENSES MEANS LIVING FROM LOVE AND BEING PEACEFUL AND HAPPY

If you give up your ego defenses and is defenseless, if you see other people as egos and ignore what their egos do to you and do what you know is right, love and forgive them without reinforcing their egoistic behaviors, you would do what makes you happy and peaceful and make money.

LOVE IS LIFE

To love is to be alive; if not loved we die. What we do with our bodies, such as sex, is nothing; what matters is the love between the two people having sex and it has nothing to do with the sex; the sex is the dreaming part of us. If you do not love people you want them to die and they know it and you know it. Love people and ignore what they do with their bodies and ego behaviors.

DR. R.O. IS AN EGOTIST AND AS SUCH DOES NOT LOVE PEOPLE

Last summer, a friend of Dr. RO, who believed that he must be mad, referred him to me. He wanted me to talk to him and give him feedback on whether his observation is correct or not. I listened to Dr. R.O; he would call me several times during the day and night, even at 3 AM to talk to me about his idea of God. Sometimes he talked non-stop for four hours; I just listened, for one thing he would not allow me to get a word in!

After about a month I had had enough and told him to go seek psychiatric treatment for his delusion disorder, grandiose type. His religiosity masks his wish to be the most important man on earth. He felt angry and stopped calling me. On January 1, this year, I called him to wish him a happy New Year. Since then he has not called me.

This tells me that the man does not love me or anyone else; the man does not even love his wife and children (he abandoned his family to go play god). He is an egotist expecting people to become his disciples, singing praises to his swollen ego and if you question his silly views on God his ego feels angry at you and shuts you out.

If you challenge his claptrap views on God he would no longer call you whereas in the past when he felt that you existed to listen to his religious gibberish he called several times a day. This man’s behavior shows me that he does not know what God is; God is love and if he does not love people enough to transcend his ego and call them he is totally godless.

He is an egotist and that is why he is where he is, a blind man (spiritual psychology would interpret his blindness as symbolic of his refusal to see well, to see that God is love not the ego power he seeks to derive from God).

Until this egotistical Igbo man gives up his ego and loves all people, and stops trying to have them see him as the ego god, he will be a flop; he can pray as he does for hours but the fact is that he does not know anything about God. God is love and to be a man of God you must be a loving person.

The ego is the opposite of love. I am a funny Nigerian. I left Nigeria after secondary school and really have not lived in Nigeria since I became an adult. I hear about the behaviors of Nigeria’s current spate of Pentecostal ministers, how they rip people off and pretend to be praying for them. Dr. R.O was sent to me to learn about Nigeria’s so-called ministers of God. Dr. R.O is a fraud. He teaches me that Nigeria’s ministers are mostly frauds. They are on ego trips and do not know what it means to be a teacher of God.

A teacher of God is a lover of all humanity. Nigerians are the quintessential egotists; what is the ego but the opposite of love! Nigerians pursue ego and do not love one another. Remember that these are the people who sold their brothers and sisters into slavery, to Arabs and white men and do not regret their sin!

Until Nigerians become a loving people, that is, become a less egotistical people they are condemned to living in hell. Their country is hell and they are in hell. Love and get out of hell; do not love and live in hell.

Finally, I know some idiot Igbos who kind of imagine that they are sophisticated and are wise to the ways of the world. They see any talk of love as sissified, as women’s talk. They imagine that they are real men and real men do not talk love. They even have a patronizing and condescending attitude to me for talking about love. They kind of think that they are mature and that I am a child (one of them, a flippant chap, actually said that I am seeking love and that that is why he talks about love...these people’s minds are possessed by Satan...Satan is euphemism for ego and its lovelessness).

Now, look at what their lovelessness has done in their world. They do not love each other; they exist to rip each other off, to steal from each other, to kidnap each other and hold folk hostage for ransom money; they engage in 419 advance fee scams. Wherever criminal activities are going on Igbos are in the thick of it. Money is their god and they must get it by all means necessary, and with that money they strut about as narcissistic peacocks asking the entire world to admire them (people admire lovers, not egotists).

They do these loveless things and generally come to the public to tell us that they are a superior race; when one of them is admitted to an American Ivy University they boast about it, but give them money to build such schools in their world and they steal such monies; no university in their world is ranked in the top 1000 universities in the world; this is a shame (they are a shameless people who call other folks shamed).

These people scoff at love and live pure egoistic existence; since the ego is hell they live in hell without knowing it. I have pity for them.

Gautama Buddha said that one can have all the compassion in the world for other people but that would not help them. He said that it is because people take the consequences of their behaviors.

In his four noble truths and eight noble paths, Buddha taught us that to live on earth, in ego, is to suffer; that we suffer because we separated from God, because we desired to live as separated egos; and that to end our suffering we must give up our egos, end separation and return to God, to union. Thereafter, we must live a moral existence, speaking the truth and loving one another etc.

Love and you are in heaven; hate (which is of the ego) and you are in hell.
