President Buhari Sends Notice of His Duties Resumption to National Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has written the National Assembly, notifying the lawmakers of his return from a 103-day medical vacation in London and his subsequent resumption of duty, an official has said. The president signed the letter of notice for dispatch to Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara, hours after his nationwide broadcast to the nation Monday morning.

The presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday afternoon. “In line with constitutional provision, President Muhammadu Buhari has written the National Assembly, notifying the legislature of his return to office, after returning from medical vacation in London,” disclosed Mr. Adesina.

"It is important that we address the issues surrounding this list before the screening of Ambassadors commences."

US ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, has accused three Nigerian lawmakers of attempted rape and soliciting for prostitutes while visiting the states on an official assignment in April 2016.

In a petition dated June 9th and addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Entwistle alleged that three lawmakers from Bauchi, Akwa Ibom and Benue state, during their visit to the states for the International Visitor Leadership Program in Cleveland, Ohio, lodged at Cleveland hotel where two of the lawmakers met with the hotel's parking lot attendants and asked for links to prostitutes that would spend the night with them while one of them allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in the hotel room, demanding for sex.

President Buhari ‘ready’ to sign Budget on Friday

All things being equal, President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law on Friday. A source, who spoke on a condition of anonymity on Thursday, said the President is now “ready” to sign the budget on Friday.

According to him, a clean copy has been sent to the Presidency from the National Assembly. He said: “All things being equal, the President will on Friday assent the 2016 Budget.”

“The two committees have finished their work and a clean copy is now with the Presidency.”

President Buhari needs more time to sign 2016 budget - minister

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari needs more time to check the 2016 budget bill before signing it, a government minister said on Wednesday, signaling further delays before the legislation takes effect.

The budget for Africa's top oil producer has been held up for months as Buhari had to withdraw his original bill, which set spending at a record $30 billion, in January, due to an unrealistic oil price assumption and flaws in the draft.

Lawmakers approved an amended bill last month but said last week they would hold new talks with the government to discuss "areas of concern" after local media reported disputes over details.

"On the 2016 budget we are still talking," Udoma Udo Udoma, minister for budget and national planning told reporters. He declined further comment.

Donald Trump on Tuesday said that the 28 redacted pages of the 9/11 report likely depict Saudi Arabia’s role in the terrorist attacks.

“I think I know what it’s going to say,” he said on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends." "It’s going to be very profound, having to do with Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia’s role on the World Trade Center and the attack.

“That’s very serious stuff. It’s sort of nice to know who your friends are, and perhaps who your enemies are. You’re going to see some very revealing things released in those papers.”

OYO ASSEMBLY PASSES N173BN APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed N173billion appropriation bill into law.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had presented the budget for the 2016 fiscal year to the state legislature a few weeks ago.

The total figure was put at N173,769,404,444 billion by the state lawmakers.

The breakdown shows that N100,651,599,183 billion is for recurrent expenditure, while N73,117,805,261 billion is budgeted for capital expenditure.

The initial amount presented by the governor was N165,097,845,486 , but the recurrent expenditure now has an upward review of 8.7 per cent, capital expenditure 0.05 per cent and the budget size has a total increase of 5.2 per cent.

Vacate House of Reps Now: Federal High Court Orders the 37 Decampee PDP-to-APC Lawmakers

An Abuja Federal High Court has affirmed that the PDP decampee federal lawmakers are not in any way competent to contribute or vote in the House of Representatives.

The Court gave an order of perpetual injunction on Monday , restricting the  concerned lawmakers who defected from ruling Peoples Democratic Party to the opposition, All Progressive Congress in the National Assembly.

House of Reps mandates army, police to stop herdsmen, Tiv conflict

Following an escalating conflicts and an endless killing  in some parts of Benue state the Nigerian House of Representatives has asked the Nigerian Army and the the police to deploy men in villages where such escalating conflicts between herdsmen and the Tiv have claimed many lives lately.

In Benue state, herdsmen and the Tiv have had a running battle in recent time over the destruction of farmlands by cattle‎, especially in Moon, Kwande Local Government Area of the state. The fighting  also spilled into the Makurdi-Lafia Expressway and parts of Guma Local Government Area, where thousands of villagers were reportedly sacked by the‎ herdsmen.
