Musa to Captain Eagles Against Senegal, B/Faso friendlies - Rohr

Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa will wear the skipper’s band when Nigeria take on Senegal and Burkina Faso in two high profile friendly games later in the month. 

Musa has fallen out of favour at Leicester City under new coach Craig Shakespeare who is in charge of the team in interim capacity following the dismissal of former boss Claudio Ranieri.


Ranieri reportedly lost his job after senior players questioned his decision to start the Nigerian ahead of Demarai Gray in their 1-2 UEFA Champions League loss to Sevilla in the first leg of their round of 16 clash at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

A metro station in Milan has been evacuated over a suspicious package ahead of a UEFA Champions League match, local media reported. Police also closed two lines until the situation is clear.

Police raised the alarm at Cadorna metro station, which serves Line 1 and Line 2 of the Milan metro system.

A suspicious woman was seen leaving a few packages on the stairs of the station, La Gazetta Dello Sport reported.

José Mourinho will take over as manager of Manchester United from the 2016/17 season, signing a three-year contract with an option to stay at the club until at least 2020.

José, 53, has managed at the top level of European football for over a decade and in that time has won league titles and cups in four countries (Portugal, England, Italy and Spain), as well as winning the UEFA Champions League twice – in 2004 with FC Porto and in 2010 with Inter Milan.

Announcing the appointment, Ed Woodward said: "José is quite simply the best manager in the game today. He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Manchester United. His track record of success is ideal to take the club forward."

Spanish sides foiled Bayern in their last two UEFA Champions League semi-finals, but UEFA.com's Philip Röber feels Josep Guardiola can break that spell.

The UEFA Champions League final is in Milan and Bayern München are up against a Madrid club in the semi-finals – exactly the situation the Bavarians faced in 2001, and that did not turn out so badly.

However, defeats by Spanish opponents in successive semi-finals have given Josep Guardiola's side cause for trepidation, and they go into their first leg against Atlético having won only two of their last 12 games on Spanish soil.

Statistics may not tell the whole story, though. Those losses – to Real Madrid in 2014 and Barcelona last time out – were perhaps rooted in Bayern's injury problems at the time, and in both cases their opponents had the greater motivation, having won the UEFA Champions League less recently than the German champions.
