The Speaker of the House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara yesterday, visited four IPDs in Adamawa State, said the conditions of the IDPs is beyond mere donation of relief materials but the government must ensure their return to safe communities.
Hon. dogara said his visitations started with those outside the Norht-East and he commences his journey to the North-East proper today (yesterday, Saturday 23-04-16), with the view on rebuilding the region.
He said: Today, I visited IDPs in Adamawa state, and although relief materials were donated to all four camps, the aim is not just to contribute to their welfare, but to ensure that they return to safe communities.
"The visits to IDPs camps began with those outside the North-East; today marked the beginning of visits within the region and the need to rebuild the North-East is extremely urgent. This is why, as representatives of the people, we will continue to draw the attention of the world to their plight, and to seek the support of the international community in rebuilding the region."
Dogara said efforts of the Nigerian security agencies towards ending the insurgency must also be commended.
