Islaamist Sects kill Seven on Maiduguri Highway

Suspected members of the deadly Islamist group, Boko Haram  have killed seven travelers along the Maiduguri-Biu road.

The outlawed Boko Haram fundamentalists  was alleged to have laid siege on the road on Saturday when its members killed seven persons, forcing many motorists to avoid the Maiduguri-Biu highway and some other major highways leading into the troubled town.

It was gathered that after the sect killed the unsuspecting travelers, they also stormed Gwargube, an adjoining village to the road where they were alleged to have summoned the villagers and threatened them to cooperate or be killed.

Bloody Jail Break Attempt: SSS quetioning detained Boko Haram suspects

Following the Sunday bloody jailbreak attempt at the Department of the State Security Service (SSS), Abuja, officials are now questioning detained Boko Haram suspects to know if external collaborators were involved in acclaimed  failed but bloody —jailbreak.

At least Twenty suspects died in the attempted jailbreak at the Abuja SSS facility, according to the Service. Some suspects, especially passers-by, arrested within the vicinity of the SSS Asokoro headquarters have been released – in line with the Service’s “respect for human rights”.

It was learnt that some of those arrested had valid identification cards and they were passers-by.

A new framework put in place by security agencies triggered the intervention of soldiers during the jailbreak.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said the Service had started finding out the remote and immediate causes of the botched jailbreak.

Nigeria Army Admits Two Soldiers Killed, Six Missing in Sambisa Forest

Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, who is the The Director of Nigeria Military Defence Information confirmed the death of two troops with six others missing in a clash between the Nigerian military Special Forces and the insurgents between Friday and Saturday in a very fierce encounter in Sambisa forest.

Director of Military Defence Information said that most of the 20 soldiers who were reported missing in the latest battle at the Sambisa forest as a result of communication misunderstanding between the ground troops and the Air force, had returned to military base and were already taking part in the mission.

Olukolade further confirms that a very large number of the Boko Haram insurgents were killed in the combined operation between ground troops and the Nigerian Air Force fighter jets. According to him, the Military Special Forces on the Sambisa forest operation discovered a larger number of Islamist insurgents which made one of the units to call for additional reinforcement to enable them to finish off the assignment.

According to competent and reliable sources, notorious Boko Haram suspect, Abu Kaka and 200 other suspects linked with with the Islamist insurgent that has been giving the Nigeria state sleepless moments, have escaped from the SSS detention in Abuja, following what the DSS yesterday, called a failed jailbreak attempt by the dreaded group.

The competent source, who claimed to have the firsthand knowledge of the operations the SSS, challenged the Department of the State Security Service and its image maker, Mrs Ogar , to make available Abu Kaka for the public to see.

Fresh Boko Haram attacks on Borno Highways

Borno state highways have been hit with a renewed wave of terrorist attacks by suspected Boko Haram fighters.

Reports by Daily Sun indicates that members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect made a number of trucks pull over and even set some of them on fire. According to the report, a military source revealed that troops along the road were put on high alert throughout the weekend.

The attacks by the dreaded group in one of the Borno villages claimed four live while many injured.

A group of 30 suspected Boko Haram gunmen in Borno State attacked Azir village in Damboa council area of Borno State early hour of Saturday. 

Four residents were murdered, while seven sustained injuries.

Abuja Gun Battle: 20 Boko Haram suspects killed

At least, 20 Boko Haram detainees have been shot dead in a shout-out that ensued this morning at the Department of State Security Service in the Asokoro a district of Abuja. Shoutout erupted when some of the suspected terrorists attempted to free their members and leave the detention facility, which is by the precincts of the Presidential Villa.


The President Jonathan's special adviser on media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati said the incident Neither affected President Goodluck Jonathan Nor the Aso-Aock Villa. He made public, the statement through his twitter's page.
