The abductors of Ebiteme Clark, son the prominent Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, have demanded N60 million ransom from the family for his release.
Edwin Clark's son was kidnapped on Wednesday in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state.
Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who is the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta state made the announcement in Warri on Friday. She equally disclosed that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the crime and was helping the police with useful information, while the police had intensified their search for the kidnappers.
The reports has it yesterday that the kidnappers have contacted the family, demanding N60 million to release of their victim.
But the Delta State police PPRO said the police force are on the trail of the abductors, alluring that they are getting close to their base. "We will do everything to ensure the victim is released unharmed’’, she assured."
But the truth is that Negotiations are going on between the family and the kidnappers , a member of the family has hinted.
Ebiteme was kidnapped on April 2 at the site of Edwin Clark University of Technology in Kiagbodo. His father, Edwin Clark, is currently a delegate at the National Conference.
Kidnapping is daily on the rise in many states of the Niger Delta (South-South), particularly in Bayelsa state were the crime is punishable with the death penalty. (NAN)
