Our mental laziness has prevented us from being introspective and questioning. When people are killed, some bureaucrats and political jobbers will be appointed into committees where they drink tea, eat heavy lunch, broach the subject, recommend platitudes and a white paper is issued. Of course no one will read it and it was never meant to be implemented because the no go" areas has been specified before hand.
What is going on in Southern Kaduna is combustible. It is confounding! It is politically volatile. It requires careful handling but the law is there, isn't it?
It requires careful handling because they were the one who polarized this country along religious and ethnic lines. Only a courageous leader can tackle this. Again, the solution is simple. Take your case to the Nigerian people. When you are going on raids, embed the press. Parade anyone caught openly. Get a Fulani person to interview them. Show them Ajami script (like the one on the Naira) that most northerners can read and tell them to read it in front of the camera. Allow Nigerians to make their judgement and proceed with prosecution. How difficult is that?
Who are the importers of arms? Container load of assault riffles are brought into this country. Who does that without effective collaboration across the security agencies? We are not ready!
