He founded Mayflower out of genuine, unfettered, earnest and heartfelt feeling about Nigeria and the future generation. He could have made a fortune from the school but this incorrigible atheist chose not to.
Bishop David Oyedepo, is a man of God. He is the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide. His Church auditorium in Ogun State, seats 50,000. It is, by Guinness Book of World Record, the largest in the World. According to Forbes Magazine, he is worth $150 million dollars. The richest pastor in Nigeria. And one of the richest men in the world. This humble man of God owns four private planes. His schools: Kingdom Heritage Primary School; Faith Academy ( a full boarding) Secondary School; Covenant University and Landmark University are the most expensive schools in Nigeria.
In a country, with one of the lowest per capita income in the world. Only 10% of those that pay tithes and offerings in Oyedepo's churches can afford to put their children in schools set up by Living Faith Church Worldwide. More than 80% of those whose wards are in these schools, STEAL somehow, in other to provide quality education for their children. If all you can afford at the Winners Chapel is your widow's mite. The first Bible I owned, was given to me and to millions of other students in Lagos State, by the Gideon Society. No strings attached. It was given to us FREE. Christianity, then I understood. It was made simple and Christians spoke English. Nowadays, Christians speak Greek. And when you ask questions; they break it down to you by speaking in tongues. Balderdash!
The church was never confused with a financial institution. Hence, the phrase Church rat. Now Church Rats are the richest Cats in the country. With Churches now having IPO numbers.
I am not a saint, far from it. I am just a man. One who seriously needs your prayers. But one thing I know is this: I would rather be in Hell with Tai Solarin, than be in heaven with these modern day MEN OF GOD.
