Soldiers arrest 13-yr-old girl for spying for Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army Unit in Gwoza, Borno State, have arrested a 13-year-old girl for spying on the military formation for the members of Boko Haram.

NAN reports that a security source confirmed that the soldiers who picked up the girl were said to be stunned when they found an AK 47 assault rifle in her residence. It was further gathered that the girl led the soldiers to three other girls who were also said to have been recruited by Boko Haram to spy on military formations.

However, the source did not say whether the soldiers found any lead in the residents of the other girls said to be undergoing interrogation.

U.K, China to deploy advanced tracking technologies in the rescue of Chibok girls - Abati

As the search and rescue operations to rescue the kidnapped students of Government secondary School Girls in Chibok, Borno state continue. President Goodluck Jonathan has requested and received the assistance of British government in term of the deployment of an advance tracking technologies for the operation.

According to Dr. Reuben Abati, who is the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, President Jonathan spoke with the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, on the phone after meeting with Premier Li Keqiang of China, who is on an official visit to Nigeria, “asked and received a promise of the deployment of British Satellite Imaging capabilities and other advanced tracking technologies in support of the ongoing effort of the federal government”.

Abati said, “The President thanked Mr. Cameron, the British Government and people for their concern over the fate of the abducted girls and their willingness to provide concrete assistance to save the girls from the terrorists who seized them from their school.

President Goodluck Jonathan, Tuesday, welcomed and accepted a definite offer of help from the United States of America in the ongoing effort to locate and rescue the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, three weeks ago.


This was disclosed in a press statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, on Tuesday evening.


Mr. Abati said the “offer from President Barack Obama which was conveyed to President Jonathan by the United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry in a telephone conversation which began at 15.30 Hours today, includes the deployment of U.S. security personnel and assets to work with their Nigerian counterparts in the search and rescue operation”.

Sheikh Gumi: Kidnap of School girls’ll end Boko Haram activities

An Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Abubakar Gumi has said that the kidnap of school girls by the Boko Haram insurgents will end the group’s activities.


In a statement in Kaduna, Gumi said security agents should encircle the Sambisa forest and use aerial surveillance that would lead to the capture of the abductors, adding that time was running out fast on them.

He wondered why it has taken the military so long to use the drone developed and manufactured by the Nigeria Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna. If the drone is working, said Gunmi, this is the right time to use it.

To him, it is ironic that “nobody wants to take responsibility and honorably resign for more responsible officials to clear the mess”.
