Armed operatives of the Department of State Security Service are currently at the Abuja residence of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-Rufai, trying to force their way in to arrest the former minister, Mr. El-Rufai has told PREMIUM TIMES.
The operatives did not produce any arrest warrant, the former minister said.
Mr. El-Rufai is currently not at home but he said he would rush back home after picking his children from school.
The SSS had on Thursday invited Mr. El-Rufai, the Deputy National Secretary of the opposition All Progressives Congress [APC] in connection with a statement credited to him that there might be violence if the 2015 general elections were not free and fair.
The former minister made the comment while speaking at the Transformed to Transform, T2T Nigeria, Conference and Career Fair, a leadership and empowerment initiative for the National Youth Service Corps members in Abuja on Wednesday.
He was reported to have said the 2015 elections could be marred by riots and other forms of violence that might lead to loss of lives and properties unless the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the security agencies ensured they were free.
The former minister however refused to respond to the SSS’ invitation on the ground that he had a pending suit against the agency over his detention in a hotel in Awka, Anambra State, during the governorship election in that state last November 16.
He also told the Director General of the Service, Ita Ekpeyong, that he was willing to meet with him in his home or office or that in the alternative the SSS should produce a warrant of arrest.
Spokesperson of the SSS, Marylyn Ogar, declined comments when contacted by PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday night.
But she had earlier issued a statement Thursday warning those making provocative statements ahead of the 2015 general election to desist from such or face the full weight of the law.
Ms. Ogar said the attention of the service had been drawn to incessant provocation statements by some Nigerians threatening violence ahead of the election. She did not mention any name
“Such comments are offensive, misguided and directed at stirring hate among Nigerians,” she said.
“This service and other law enforcement agencies have the mandate to protect the country and its citizens.
“We, therefore, warn all subversive elements that are bent on promoting divisive and disruptive agenda to refrain from such as the full weight of the law shall henceforth be brought to bear accordingly.”
She urged Nigerians to remain law abiding and assist security agencies in ensuring the safety of all

Many people love the guidance of the Holy Spirit but are not ready for His
leadership, we should be ready for both “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, [that] shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come”.

His leadership is to teach, correct and rebuke us where necessary. These will only make us to be the person He desires us to be.
Anybody who is enjoying the leadership of the Holy Spirit and His guidance will hear from God before it happens, he will see what others do not see, he will not fall into the error of Satan, doing God’s work will be easy for him because he will work with the master plan of God.
Holy Spirit, He is God in Spirit, this enables Him to be everywhere helping the believers to achieve the original purpose and plan of God.
We should learn how to invite Him into our lives, worship Him and learn to listen to His gentle voice.
LET US PRAY
1. God the Holy Spirit, take Your abode in me.
2. Father, baptize me afresh with Your Spirit.
3. Holy Spirit of God, direct the rest of my life for Your glory.
4. In Jesus name, I receive fresh fire of God.

Message
God is at the core of the creation of Heaven and Earth. Without Him, there could never have been anything. The opening verses of Genesis 1 reveal the activities of God in making creation suitable for man’s habitation.
Unlike many ancient and modern writers who assume what they do not know about creation, Moses, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit began his account of creation in Genesis with conviction and plain claims.
By revelation, he knew God was behind creation and he stated it plainly as that. This kind of accurate knowledge that takes a writer back to several years before his time could only come by revelation.
Some theologians say that the earth had been in that disorderly state for several millions and billions of years and scientists also claim that archaeological discoveries reveal prehistoric matters that had existed before man was created to exercise dominion over creation. Whatever it was, the point is that with God, there can be a new beginning no matter how far back the record of disorderliness and darkness in anybody’s life may go.
The most important period in your life begins when God gives you a new beginning.
The wastage of the past; the crisis of the past and the darkness of the past will give way for a new beginning when God commands a new sunrise in your life.
I decree on behalf of my Daddy in heaven, that every disorderliness and darkness in your life will give way in Jesus’ Name.
Before God commanded the light to be, the Bible says the earth was void and without form, and darkness reigned over creation. This state was totally against what God had in mind for creating the heavens and the earth, but this problem was not beyond redemption.
We must let this fact sink into our minds: that God is still in charge of His universe. The Lord can redesign your life which the enemy may have battered. Your achievements may be nothing to compare with what God had in mind about you from the beginning and darkness may be reigning supreme in your life instead of light.
God will give you a new beginning because He has control over the entire creation. He is completely in charge.
Several years ago, one of my children went to America to study. There was a change in government and the new government refused to continue with his scholarship. Things got so bad for him and his family that there was no food in the house, but God Almighty who will always be in charge sent some Americans who were going on house-to-house evangelism to them.
On realising that this couple and their set of twins were starving, they did not only provide food but also a job for his wife.
Today, the family has at least two houses that I know about in America. This season shall mark the beginning of new things in your life in Jesus’ Name.

Bieber was in a rented Lamborghini, police sources told NBC 6 South Florida.
No other details of the arrest were immediately known.

The Opa-locka Police Department is also investigating an unauthorized escort of Bieber, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Syria Geneva II: UN to hold separate talks with rival groups
UN mediator for Syrian peace talks Lakhdar Brahimi is to hold separate talks with rival delegations to assess their willingness to meet together. The behind-the-scenes negotiations follow the first day of a major peace conference in Switzerland which ended in bitter divisions.
Mr Brahimi's initiative takes place before full talks resume on Friday.
It remains unclear whether the two sides will negotiate face-to-face - as planned by the UN - when talks restart.
The BBC's diplomatic correspondent Bridget Kendall in Montreux says that while the peace process may have got off to a rocky start - with heated disagreements on Wednesday - at least neither of the two rival delegations from the government and the opposition walked out.
And both say they will come to the UN brokered talks due to begin in Geneva on Friday.
But our correspondent says that how those talks will work is still not certain.
Mr Brahimi has revealed that he still does not know if the two sides are even prepared to sit in the same room.
He intends to consult them separately on Thursday to gauge what is possible.
"What we will try to do is talk about how to end this bloody war, and for that, I think, we have a kind of road map in the communique of 30 June 2012, and we'll see how we use that platform to best effect," Mr Brahimi said.
"We have no illusion that it is going to be easy, but we are going to try very hard."

Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola received loud applause as he made eloquent statistical presentation before the parliamentary body during which he advocated the use of biometric registration of beneficiaries of the Home Grown School Feeding programme worldwide to eliminate corruption and guarantee transparency.
To guarantee sustainable future for Nigeria, the Governor called for the adoption of O’MEALS programme across the nation with appropriate legislative backing and extend it to the first nine years of schooling
At the meeting presided over by Lord Cameron of Dillington, Governor Aregbesola submitted before the world audience gathered in Committee Room 9 of the House of Commons that technology remained the best way out to address the concerns of development partners and international donors on the issue of corruption.
Addressing the concerns of development partners on what was referred to as all-pervading corruption through which project funds were usually lost in the past, the Governor expressed the conviction that once beneficiaries of the programme are registered biometrically, banks that are linked with the programme funding would rely on the data to process payment and ensure that no fund is lost at the implementation stage.
“Technology remains the only effective way to remove corruption from the implementation of the Home Grown School Feeding programme. Once the technology of biometric registration is introduced for beneficiaries, the data is linked to settle the banks and through that, the vendors are paid. Beneficiaries are then able to register their biometric features through the Point of Sales (POS) terminals to guarantee a transparent, corruption-free and efficient HGSF system worldwide”, he said.
All the four speakers including Professor Donald Bundy, the Lead Health and Education Specialist of the World Bank, Mr. Peter Rodrigues, the Chief of School Feeding and Chronic Hunger Unit of the World Food Programme (WFP), Ms. Boitshepo Bibi Giyose of NEPAD and Professor Josephine Kiamba, the Senior Technical Adviser of the Partnership for Child Development, Imperial College, London lauded Governor Aregbesola for successfully implementing the O'MEALS despite the challenging financial situation of his state.
Describing the Osun model of school feeding programme as worthy of emulation by all African countries, Professor Donald Bundy of the World Bank observed that the scheme had become the safety net to ensure that food gets to the poorest children in many countries of the world if the community based implementation strategies of Governor Aregbesola were adopted.
Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Peter Rodrigues of the World Food Programme noted that then State of Osun had shown practical ways to achieve the best result as the cost per child, per day and per annum demonstrated by Governor Aregbesola clearly explained the fact that Home Grown School feeding programme saves money and guarantees food security.
Promising that WFP would in the next six months come out with evidence to back this assertion, Rodrigues assured that Home grown school feeding model of the State of Osun had shown that it not only saves "a lot of money. It is very complex and we all need to get the local governments to buy into it and change the mindset of the host government".
They then urged the Federal Government and other state governments in Nigeria and across the African continent to adopt the O'MEALS model of Governor Aregbesola to tackle the challenges of food security, youth development, nutritional values of food for youthful population, health and educational administration as well as food security needs of their societies.
The Governor recalled that from April 30, 2012 when the programme was rebranded as O’MEALS to December 31, 2013 making a total of 330 school days, enrolment at Elementary schools jumped from 203,858 to 252,793 pupils representing an increase of 24 per cent.
According to him, his administration had committed N3,813,700,000.00 to the implementation of the school feeding programme that covered pupils from primary one to four.
Aregbesola stated further that “the cost per child per year was N15,100.00 or £57.60p while the cost per child per day was N45.70 or £0.17p. In the same breath, 3,100 women were appointed and re-trained as community-based food vendors while 462 out-growers of fish were successfully empowered for massive fish production to cater for the needs of the programme locally”.
The governor stressed further that in line with his promise two years ago to introduce the highly nutritious cocoyam to the nutrition timetable of the pupils, “our administration mobilized a professor from the state university to undertake the training of 1,000 farmers including 90 women in the pink cocoyam rebirth scheme”.
Governor Aregbesola who expressed the hope that other states of Nigeria and the Federal Government would adopt the Osun model of the school feeding programme called on technical/development partners and international donors to support the State of Osun in the task of capacity building to achieve biometric registration and digitization of beneficiaries of O’MEALS to guarantee transparency and sustainability.
The Governor, who linked effective learning with healthy student population also called on the international donors and advocacy groups to mount sustained pressures on national governments to adopt the Osun Model of O’MEALS in all their nations’ primary schools while extending it to the first nine years of schooling.
As a result of the successful implementation of O’MEALS in the State of Osun, Governor Aregbesola stated that virtually all-out-of-school children have now been taken into the school system pleading that he would like the Nigerian government “not only to adopt the O’MEALS model in all the nation’s primary schools but most importantly extend it to the first nine years of school in Nigeria”.
His words: “We require more support from our technical partners in the area of capacity building to achieve biometric registration and digitization of beneficiaries O’MEALS programme to guarantee transparency and efficient resource management”.
US AMBASSADOR TO NIGERIA: AMERICA WONT STOP HIV FUND OVER ANTI-GAY LAW
United States government never said it would cut funding for HIV/AIDS programmes in Nigeria on account of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act signed into law, the US ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, has said.
In comments to clarify statements he made this Monday, Entwistle noted that subsequent reporting of his remark has suggested possible cut in US funding. “This is not the case,” said Entwistle Wednesday at the screening of Shuga, a serial drama produced by MTV Base to address HIV issues in the country.
“Let me clear: our commitment, our pledge to support the HIV/AIDS fight in this country is unwavering. What I did say was that we, and I imagine all HIV/AIDS donors will have to watch carefully how this bill is implemented and enforced with an eye toward its potential effect on HIV programmes here.”
There are fears people involved in same-sex relations and carrying HIV are unable to access HIV services and drugs.
US spending on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria has exceeded $3.4 billion in the last 10 ten years, and another $500 million is expected to be spent this year.
But the US expects “much more support from Nigeria”, including increased local funding, to achieve an aids-free generation.
“We are confident that over the coming years, your government will take a more prominent financial role in the fight against HIV/AIDS in this country, as it has committed itself to doing.”
The ambassador praised the influence of programmes like Shuga to enable youth understand the threat of HIV, noting that it allowed communication of basic facts and dispelled stigma “in a way that speaks with youth, rather than at them.”
The eight-episode Shuga, screened with support from National Agency for AIDS Control (NACA) is expected to morph into a radio serial, and online tie-ins are in the works.
Social media, pop music and a constant message of prevention and life after the virus are heavily woven into its plot.
“We have insisted treatment is important but prevention is certainly better, and this is just one of the newer media that people are beginning to explore in terms of health education,” said health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu at the screening.
A national survey showed HIV prevalence of three percent among young people aged 15 to 19 years, and up to 5.4% among 25-29-year-olds.
Those aged up to 34 years had even higher prevalence.

According to a vigilante youth, Yakubu Isa, the terror suspects came in two pickup vehicles with empty drums to buy fuel at one of the petrol stations on Bama road.
“I took courage to mobilize some of our members to the petrol station, because the three suspects were in military uniform taking fuel at the station, but the soldiers patrolling this road do not refuel their vehicles at any of the petrol stations, but at a single designated point in the Government Reservation Area (GRA).
“When we confronted them, one of them said that the fuel is for their generating sets. When their explanations were not convincing to us, I alerted the soldiers in that sector, and we handed them over for further investigation”.
On how the other three suspects were arrested, he said: “they sneaked into Maiduguri last night to replenish their food items and fuel at a shop on Damboa road. They used two vehicles, before we intercepted and arrested them on this road. With these evidences we found on these insurgents, we handed them to soldiers for further investigation”.
A military officer attached to one of the Joint Task Force (JTF) sectors in Maiduguri, who spoke in confidence, confirmed the incident.
Prior to the arrests, gunmen suspected to be members of the sect attacked the border village of Wala in Gwoza council area of Borno State, killing three residents.
Four villagers were also injured in the attack which also led to the setting ablaze of houses and shops.
Confirming the incident, the former council chairman, Dr Ibrahim Bulama said the insurgents came on two motorcycles from the Sambisa Forest, before attacking the village in the early hours of Monday.
He said other property destroyed in last Monday’s attacks included five houses and three shops, located on the Maidugri-Gwoza road, adding that with the arrival of soldiers to the village on Tuesday, the villagers are going on with their daily activities.
