APC MUSLIM-MUSLIM TICKET: No One Can Use Back Door to Islamise Nigeria - Nafata

A Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket might have a chance if it is headed by a Muslim outside our Islamist core North… just like June 12 where a Yoruba Muslim was at the top of the ticket.

An Edo or Ebira Muslim might also be acceptable, but certainly not a self-confessed unapologetic Shariarist like Buhari, whose irresponsible Islamist posturing and utterances have contributed to polarizing this country along religious lines.

With her divisive Sharia agitation and Boko Haram insurgency, the Islamist core North has compounded religious animosity in this country, so that a Muslim-Muslim ticket today is less acceptable than in June 12, 1993.

Rightly or wrongly, All Progressive Congress, APC is already viewed as a Muslim party in some quarters. To now compound that perception with a Muslim-Muslim ticket is utter idiocy and a sure loser.

Having said that, I don't agree that a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket necessarily amounts to Islamizing the country. We've been ruled by Muslim-Muslim before (Buhari/Idiagbon); and by Christian-Christian (Gowon/Wey).
