The House also appealed to the defence ministry to “consider locating an army barracks in the affected local governments to forestal the recurrences of such killings.”
Also the Lawmakers in its plenary passed another motion sponsored by Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo from Nasarawa state, urging concerned authorities to hasten the construction of a military barracks in Doma Local Government of the state in view of last week’s killings of Fulani herdsmen by soldiers in the state.
Th federal lawmakers asked the security agencies in the country to “fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act of the Zamfara herdsmen killings and bring them to justice to serve as lessons to others.”
While the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, was instructed to deliver relief materials to the displaced citizens of the affected villages, House agreed to send a committee to sympathise, see first-hand, the damage done and report back to the Assembly
Zamfara killings, according to the House member who moved the motion, Rep. Gusau, were carried out by “suspected Fulani herdsmen” who “operated freely for about four hours, shooting at children, traders, vigilante, community leaders and clerics who were unarmed and defenseless.
