Arase, who was appointed IG by former President Goodluck Jonathan in April 2015, will attain the mandatory retirement age of 60 on June 21.
He has served 35 years in the Nigeria Police Force.
The breaking of fast with the service chiefs and IG Solomon Arase was the first official assignment of President Buhari, after his resumption of work on Monday. Though He met with the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo early in the morning.
