VOODOISM, LIVING GOD AND POLITICS - LESSONS DERIVABLE FROM EKITI GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION

The Governorship election in Ekiti has come and gone, result is already known, victory conceded and I have congratulated the winner, stake holders and all dramatic personae that took part in the election.

I wish to make this post to point our attention to the place of vodooism (jujuism) and prayer to the Almighty (The living God) and which one is more potent out of the two. I uploaded two pictures showing the two families that contested the election for illustration and to drive home my points as I do not intend to insult outgoing Governor Fayemi who earned my respect for his brave action of accepting defeat even when his Party had already made statement rejecting the outcome of the election and when Nasir El-Rufai was already ranting about Ekiti Election he knew nothing about.

While the outgoing governor with his wife were pursuing the election with vodooism and jujuism, the incoming governor with his wife were pursuing the seat with fasting and prayer to the living God.

Gbajabiamila: Nigeria’s election finally matures

The Leader of Opposition, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Monday declared that the last Saturday’s Ekiti election serves as a turning point in the country’s political history.

Gbajabiamila in a statement he personally signed in Abuja submitted that, “The Ekiti Governorship election of June 21, marks a watershed in our political history. Perhaps for the first time we all witnessed the gallantry and magnanimity of opponents after a keenly fought electoral contest.”

The APC leader in the House of Representatives congratulated the governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose for his victory.

“I congratulate the Governor Elect, the PDP, the Ekiti people and more importantly I congratulate Nigeria and Nigerians for indeed whether we like the outcome of the election or not, sovereignty lies in the hands of the people.”

Gbajabiamila however lamented that it took the country a long time to get it right and said he expected the milestone recorded in Ekiti to be extended to other parts of the country in 2015 without the drafting of military personnel out of the barracks.

Ekiti Poll And Boko Haram: Jonathan Destroying Nigeria Faster Than The US Predicted

On Ekiti election today, Jonathan's Federal Government deployed over 36,000 security agents to Ekiti for the gubernatorial elections. Security sources confirmed that there are 12,340 regular policemen; 26 sniffer dogs; 20 Helicopters; 3170 anti-riot policemen; 4,280 soldiers; 1800 Nigerian secret police operatives and 15,000 civil defense personnel on ground in the state for today's election.

Therefore, are you still asking who is Behind BoKo Haram? So FG have 20 helicopter for one day election that Jonathan needed badly, yet 3 states under state of emergency for over a year does not have Helicopter patrolling except for given food and arms to Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen?

Ekiti Election: Egbe Community Under Military Siege

As voters accreditation gets under way in Ekiti election this morning, there are reports that Egbe community is under a siege from soldiers who are said to have prevented residents of the community from even coming out of their houses.

The soldiers were said to have literally taken over the community. At the moment, no official explanation has been given for the military siege over the community.

I think the INEC should also confirm or dispel this report.

Abati Dispels APC’s Accusation Of Repression

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati has dispelled accusation by the opposition APC that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was repressive ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti.

Abati said in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday that the accusation was absolutely wrong. He said the Jonathan administration had been most tolerant of opposition and most respectful of citizens’ rights of association.

According to him; “This accusation cannot stand at all. The Jonathan administration remains committed to democracy and its principles. “Where elections are concerned, it is a matter of public record that Jonathan is committed to free, fair and the integrity of elections.

Democracy in danger as Nigeria comes under creeping fascism by John Odigie-Oyegun

Being the text of a World Press Conference addressed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, in Lagos on Friday, June 20th 2014

Good morning gentlemen of the press.

I have called this World Press Conference today to alert Nigerians and our international friends of the grave threat posed to our democracy and indeed the very survival of our nation by an increasingly-tyrannical federal government.

Less than 48 hours after I released an open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, warning him to halt the impunity in Ekiti and not to plunge Nigeria into a political crisis, the federal government has now overreached itself and turned Ekiti into a war zone, where constitutional guaranteed rights have been suspended.

The final electioneering campaign of our candidate in the Ekiti election, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, provided the perfect setting for the Jonathan-led administration to bare its fangs with a series of arbitrariness and unconstitutional acts that threaten the very fabric of our democracy.
