Missing Plane Update: Malaysia to search the deep-sea for flight recorders

Malaysian authority is preparing to conduct deep-sea searches to recover the flight data and voice recorders of the missing Malaysia Airlines jet. Malaysian Transport minister Hishammuddin said on Thursday this would be if it was confirmed that the plane crashed at sea.

“The next step is to actually find the black box,” he said, if two objects spotted by Australia in the southern Indian Ocean are confirmed to be from flight MH370.

There are two objects spotted by Australia that appeared to be part of the plane that disappeared while en route to Beijing on March 8. “Deep searches and surveillance is something that we are already looking into,” but "the technology and assets that are available are limited," said Hishammuddin Hussein, Malaysia's defense and acting transport minister, on Thursday.

He added that Malaysian submarines don't have the capabilities necessary to tow equipment that may be needed to locate the airliner.
