Sunday incidence in Maduguri fuelled speculations that the insurgents have invaded the campus and detonated explosive devices.

However the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Mala Daura has said there was no plan to close down the institution as it was not under any threat of insurgency attack. He also cautioned students against fleeing the campus in fear, insisting that the authorities had put all measures in place to ensure their security.
The VC said the rumour of possible attack on the campus by Boko Haram was “unfounded and misplaced,” assuring that the institution was safe. He gave the assurance through the institution’s Chief Information Officer, Malam Tanko Mohammed.
Asking the students not to flee but to settle down for their academic activities, he said, “There is no cause for alarm. The university management is working in collaboration with security agencies to ensure security for the entire university community. We have quite a good number of security personnel around the university and as such, parents and guardians should know that their children are safe.
“We have no intention to close the university as academic activities continue unhindered. We urged the students to continue their studies without fear because the security situation in Maiduguri is now calm and normalcy is returning.”
But the truth is can anyone really predict where and when the insurgents may attack, or can the institution withstands the and repel if they attack?
