ONE DIES AS PEACE CORPS COMMENCES TRAINING IN OFFA, KWARA STATE

A yet to be confirmed Information reaching us from Offa Peace Corps training camp is that one of the trainees who was hit with a big wooden club on his head by one of the officers is dead as at press time.

Issues started when the late trainee was asked to pin his head on the ground which was beyond his capacity, this provoked the officer who hit him on the head with the wooden club on his head, there was seriously bleeding and before the deceased got to camp clinic, he already has gave up the ghost.

It was also reported that snakes and scorpions are on rampage in the camp as nothing less than 15 trainees have been reportedly bitten by these dangerous reptiles on the open field provided for them to sleep the program.
Contacting one of the trainees in the camp, he said there was a reported case of a fainted trainee which he can not actually identify by name.

While we appreciate Nigeria Peace Corps for this initiative, we condemned their lack of value for human lives in their operation. Each trainee paid an amount more than #50,000 (fifty thousand naira) and the management of peace Corps cannot secure a human friendly environment for them to undertake their one month training.

It was learnt that most of the cadets in training are sleeping on a bare ground in the open field provided for.
