We took time to as usual go over various news items on social media. While doing so, we came across a release credited to Dr. Muideen Olufemi Akorede, Senior Special Assistant on Media & Communications to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State. In his release, he informed us about Kwara State Government preparation towards marking the 50th Anniversary of the creation of Kwara State. Infact, a 31 man committee has already started working, just to organise a befitting celebration. A celebration in which millions of our naira, will again be wasted on a meaningless charade by those whom providence has put in the seat of power. The annoying aspect is, there are so many people suffering and in serious pain as a result of unpaid salaries and entitlements. Yet, Kwara State Government would rather celebrate with their few friends and cronies than to put smiles on the faces of those ones who have being working for months without being paid.
SO! WHAT PRECISELY ARE THEY CELEBRATING? INFACT, LET US PUT IT THIS WAY!....... DO WE ACTUALLY HAVE ANY REASON TO CELEBRATE OUR 50 YEARS AS A STATE? AND WHY SHOULD WE BE CELEBRATING? Are we celebrating our level of development or how retrogressed we have become? We looked around us and what we see are very serious hunger, lack, frustration and deprivation in the land! So what is the cause of the merry making? The reality on ground is....... Majorly, those within and surrounding the corridors of power are actually the ones doing well... Most of the rest of the citizens of the State are in serious anguish. The Government that came on board in Kwara Stae since 2003, have in the most impunitious manner, sold most of the landed and property assets of Kwara State to themselves and their cronies. The entirety of Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture land, adjacent to Asa River, has been completely sold off. The impact is the unwarranted build up of traffic along Sango axis. To make matter worse, food crops which ought to be produced on those lands and made available to Ilorin residents at cheap and affordable prices, has been forfeited.
The question is, what did they use all the money generated from the sales of those land and properties for? Aside from this, Kwara State Government, via the bureau of land being Chairman by that fantastically corrupt Ibrahim Salman Arowona, has now engaged in a campaign of grabbing lands, using government veto power over indigenous land owners. In most instances, no compensation is being paid. Does all these call for celebration? The criminal mannerisms in which the current political leadership in Kwara State, sold and still selling the lands of Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin is another case study. Are we also celebrating this? Are we to celebrate the bastardization of master plan of Kwara State capital which has being the hallmark of this current political leadership in the State? To add salt to injury, they demolished GSS Ilorin fence and erected almost 80 shops beside the school. Town planners will argue that land uses such as schools and commercial land uses must not exist side by side, but not so in Kwara State! Not so under the continuation of the legacy of stealing, impunity and embezzlement.
We are not surprised at the town planning authority in Kwara State. Professionals who approved the construction of a shopping mall with sceptic tanks on a land belonging to water corporation and housing water pipelines. Inspite of the brave showing of GRA Ilorin Concerned Residents Association and Ilorin Emirate Descendant Progressive Union, and the invitation sent to the two bodies by Kwara State House Assembly and with the presentation made by them on the floor of the State House of Assembly, plus the directive given by Kwara State House of Assembly that the construction should stop, THOSE FOOLS IN Kwara State Town Planning Development Authority (KWTPDA) STILL HAD THE GUTS TO ALLOW SUCH SACRILEGE to continue... And thereby made the authority of Kwara State House of Assembly as toothless bulldog and thereby presented them as rubber stamp legislature... Does all these call for celebration?
Let us now consider the recent appointment of board members into various parastatals and establishments in the State. It is simply nothing but a conglomerate of lame brains and gathering of inept thinkers! People whom all they have to contribute is looking for various available property of Kwara State that should be sold! We do not have any record of any intellectual amongst the role call. NO WONDER WHY THINGS ARE DEPRECIATING IN THE STATE IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE MANNER! All the industries that were active in the 1980's employing Kwarans, has now being demolished and their lands sold out as event centres and residential buildings!
Is this what we shall be celebrating at 50th Anniversary of Kwara State? The cannibalistic and criminal reconstitution of Kwara State from Producer State to a Residential State! The current political class in Kwara State have also systematically destroyed and continuing destroying the educational sector, as they ensured that students in government owned schools are not accessible to required tools for effective educational system, plus they are now refusing to pay the salaries of workers (teachers) in that sector. However, they are sending their own children to overseas Countries in securing the future of their children. The intention is simply clear! THEY REALISE THAT THEIR TIME IS RUNNING OUT, AS SUCH THEY ARE SYSTEMATICALLY POSITIONING THEIR CHILDREN TO TAKE OVER FROM THEM!
Are we to celebrate the strategic impoverishing of the Masses of Kwara State, including all the dynamic and able bodied youths who has now being turned into touts and I Support Sir! Are we supposed to celebrate Unemployment and Underemployment that they have instituted, so that when the elections approaches, they are rich enough to buy INEC and all polling booth officials to guarantee them the victory. WE HAVE DISCOVERED YOUR TRICKS! THE GAME IS UP! Are we to celebrate the fact that you have embezzled our common wealth, used the State as collateral for various loans and used all State Government Buildings as collateral? Are we suppose to celebrate the fact that the current political leadership of Kwara State now uses Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) to intimidate, oppress and victimise Kwarans and Non Kwarans resident in Kwara State!
Are we to celebrate how you locked up people's shops and used APCON to remove the sign boards you didn't give them kobo to create? What precisely are we to celebrate? Oooooh... oh, someone said we should celebrate Light Up Kwara Project, Geri Alimi Bridge, Metropolitan Square, Cargo Terminal, Tshonga Farms, Kwara State Aviation College etc. YOU MUST BE KIDDING! DO YOU THINK WE ARE UNAWARE OF HOW YOU OVER INFLATED THE CONTRACTUAL SUM! HOW YOU SPENT 2 BILLION NAIRA FOR A PROJECT THAT IS NOT MORE THAN 120 MILLION NAIRA! DO YOU THINK WE DON'T KNOW THAT TSHONGA FARMS IS BEING OPERATED AS A PRIVATE FARM! OF WHAT RELEVANCE TO KWARA IS THAT CARRICATURE YOU CALL AN AVIATION COLLEGE? HOW MANY OF ITS GRADUATES ARE BEING EMPLOYED AND HOW MANY KWARA CITIZENS ARE AMONGST ITS STUDENTS? HOW MUCH IGR IS THE COLLEGE BRINGING INTO STATE PURSE? IS IT ALSO NOT A DRAIN PIPE FOR MONEY LAUNDERING?
In the time past, we could boast of industries and establishments actually functioning! Sugar Company, NIYAMCO, Paper Mill, Demosco Limited, Okin Biscuit, Okin Malt, Noble Beer, Tate and Lyle, ITC, Doyin Industries, Afri Cola, Coca Cola etc. WHAT DO WE HAVE NOW? Infact, Mai Martaba, Emir of Ilorin had to resort to begging Tuyil Pharmaceutical not to leave because of the high handedness of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS). Within the last 14 years, Kwara State which used to be a whole human body with efficient body parts and functioning organs, has been converted to be a shadow itself! The body is now having no legs, no hands, no eyes and no soul!
WE ARE NOT LIVING IN KWARA, WE ARE JUST "EXISTING" WE ARE JUST "SURVIVING" AS THE CASE MAY BE! It is not surprising that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed need to move through the Streets of Ilorin with a long convoy of security men! You are afraid of what can happen to you if you decide to walk in the streets without security personnel. Hehehehehehe..... You can see your life now! THE 50 YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF KWARA STATE DOESN'T CALL FOR ANY CELEBRATION! INSTEAD, WE MUST RATHER USE IT FOR SOBER REFLECTION AND DELIVERANCE PRAYERS! IN KWARA, WE NEED TO PRAY AS NIGERIANS PRAY AGAINST ABACHA! YOU WILL REMEMBER THAT GOD KILLED ABACHA AT THE END! WHERE ARE THOSE PRAYER WARRIORS WHO SIGNED ABACHA'S DEATH WARRANT? WHERE ARE THOSE ALFAS IN ILORIN WHO PRAYED PREVAILING PRAYERS UNTIL ABACHA DIED? ABI THE MONEY YOU HAVE COLLECTED FROM THE OPPRESSOR OF THE PEOPLE OF KWARA WILL BUY HEAVEN FOR YOU AND GUARANTEE YOUR ETERNAL BLISS? WHERE ARE YOU ELDERS OF KWARA? RESPECTED MEN AND WOMEN WHOM AFTER YOU STRUGGLE TO SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL UP TO HIGHER INSTITITUTION LEVEL, THEY HAVE BEING AT HOME WITH NO JOBS, AND YOU NOW HAVE TO BE TAKING CARE OF THEM ALL OVER AGAIN! SE EO FE JEUN OMO NI, EYIN IYA WA, EYIN BABA WA? -DON'T YOU WANT TO EAT THE FRUIT OF YOUR LABOUR, YOU OUR FATHERS, YOU OUR MOTHERS?
Any right thinking and rightly discerning individual will realise that Kwara @50 ain't no time to CELEBRATE! It is rather a time to PROTEST! IT IS A TIME TO PROTEST AGAINST OUR POLITICAL OVERLORDS, WHO ARE WINING AND DINING IN AFFLUENCE, WHEN YOUR CHILDREN ARE BEING KICKED OUT OF SCHOOL FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO PAY THEIR FEES. IT IS TIME TO PROTEST AGAINST OUR POLITICAL OVERLORDS WHO ARE USING OUR COLLECTIVE WEALTH IN BUYING UP HOUSES AND LANDS IN G.R.A., while you are being served quit notices by your Landlords! IT IS TIME TO PROTEST AGAINST OUR POLITICAL OVERLORDS WHO HAD TO BUY AS MANY JEEPS TO DISTRIBUTE ON A MEANINGLESS CHARADE, WHILE INFACT THOSE JEEPS ARE RIGHT IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE AND NOW TELLING YOU CIVIL SERVANTS THAT THERE IS NO MONEY TO PAY YOUR SALARIES. LABOUR UNION HAS BEEN TOO DAMNED COMPLACENT! Why will they not be!....... Shebi Kwara State Government sponsored Nigerian Labour Congress Chairman (NLC), Kwara State Chapter to London for a conference!... NLC of Kwara State Chapter, your Leaders are enjoying; drinking beer and growing fat pot belly, while your salaries are yet to be paid!

Muslim, Christian, Jew and Gentiles in Kwara State, HEAR OUR WORDS....... IT IS TIME TO PROTEST!... KWARA STATE@50, LET US HAVE A SOBER REFLECTION! KWARA STATE@50, LET US PRAY TO OUR LORD TO DELIVER US FROM INTERNAL SLAVERY IN THE HANDS OF THE OPPRESOR!... KWARA STATE@50, LET US PROTEST! LET US PROTEST!! LET US PROTEST!!!
