2FACE OUT, BUT THE PROTESTS CONTINUE!

TEXT OF JOINT WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE OF CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS HELD TODAY 5TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2016 AT 10, AFOLABI LESI, ILUPEJU, LAGOS TO DECLARE CONTINUATION OF FEBRUARY 6 PROTESTS IN SPITE 2FACE WITHDRAWAL

We, coalition of civil society groups under the auspices of MOVEMENT AGAINST AUSTERITY AND HARDSHIP(MAAH) want to condemn the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force for intimidating 2face Idibia from participating in the February 6th mass protests against the sufferings and anti-poor policies in the country.

Ours is a radical understanding of the issues at hand. And so, we commend 2face for even making efforts at standing for the truth in the first place. That he had to bow to the cruel and anti-democratic pressures on him and his family is a pointer to the fact that we are all humans. The fate of the protest is never tied to any individual, no matter how great or popular. So, the nationwide protests must continue!
If we do not take action against the bad policies of this government, the pains and sufferings will continue. The system thrives only on our collective poverty, primitive corruption, and crude exploitation.

This is why we feel the mass of Nigerians across the country has very right to continue. We will march alongside other radical groups and the mass people who are agitated on moving against this hardship.

We call on all Nigerians not to be disappointed not to be setback. The battle is for the brave. Let's show our oppressors and the bosses that we will emancipate ourselves no matter the threats.
The protest continues tomorrow. Organize anywhere you are.

For Lagos, join us as we march through Ikorodu roads to occupy Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Parks, Ojota.

A people united can never be defeated
