MESSAGE FOR ALISON-MADUEKE: Kola Aluko Hits By Strange Ailment As Jide Omokore parts ways with him
This is indeed not the best of times for the founder of Fossil Resources, a downstream company and co-director of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited, Mr. Kola Aluko. We gathered that Kola is terribly sick at the moment. The cause of his sickness is not known as at the time of filling this report.
But people that know him confided in us that its more of spiritual attack.
And if that is not enough, Jide Omokore, his partner has parted ways with him over a deal gone awry.
However, in recent times, there have been issues over oil businesses in the country. Aluko’s Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited had been variously mentioned, having gone into agreement with the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC), the operating arm of the NNPC.

IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
I asked God a silent questions, 30yrs ago, why did those generations in Noah's days find it so difficult to board the Noah's Ark and get saved? It took God 30yrs before He could answered my pending questions.
God said, "As it was so difficult for the generations in Noah's days to entered Noah's Ark, so also, difficult for these generations to dress well. So difficult to putting-on a clothes that will covered their breast & their bom-bom. "As it was so difficult for the generations in Noah's days to board Noah's Ark, so also, difficult for these generations to stop singing & dancing Skelewu, Yawuse, Gongo-Aso & Doro. As it was so difficult for the generations in Noah's days to board the Ark, so also, difficult for these generations to stop smoking, drinking, clubbing, dressing like Jezebel, going to the house of God as if they are going to watch BASKET MOUTH, fornicate, dancing Nigeria Idols. Its so difficult to gives ones life to Jesus & live a holy life.
God said, "As generations in Noah's days were mockery of Noah & His family for constructed an Ark, & as they also isolated themselves from Noah & his family, so also, people today are making mockery of any calls to repentance & they isolated themselves from anyone telling them to live a holy life.

A Winning or Rigging Formula? - Gumi
Ringing the 2015 election this time will be very difficult indeed. Voters will remain until the results of their votes casted are pasted in front of them. And with a more potent competitor, the PDP that was once the only "national party' has further polarized the polity not just on the north-south divide but more dangerously on the religious one. Already some of them have already started calling APC an 'Islamic Party' to put in the Christian psyche the loathe of the party. Yet not acknowledging the fact that PDP especially with the recent South African $9.3m scandal, majority of Muslims believe the party is a CAN party.
With this ugly political scenario in situ, re-endorsing President Jonathan is their greatest political blunder because I know the Muslim North will totally reject him. That means the only option left for PDP to continue is by rigging.
PDP is then the epicenter of the most dreaded religious earthquake or the crater of volcano eruption that can shatter and destroy the nation. Because 2015 is not 2011. In 2011, the benefit of doubt which Jonathan enjoyed in the North is completely eroded by his style of governance.

Weapons Haram: A pastor, a jet, Israel and $10m By Bala Muhammad
Imagine this scenario: “A private jet belonging to the Sultan of Sokoto [though he hasn’t as yet got one] has been impounded in South Africa laden with undeclared cash to the tune of almost $10m. Also arrested were two Nigerians and a Saudi Arabian citizen. The arrested trio said they were in South Africa to purchase arms…The Sultan of Sokoto is the leader of Nigeria’s Muslim community and President of the country’s influential Nigerian Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs (NSCIA)…”
Just imagine the frenzy, the abuse, the castigation, the condemnation a section of this country’s media and public commentariat would scramble to if this were what happened. The story would have been a real BANG!
However, the story happens to be the direct opposite:
“A private jet belonging to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has been impounded in South Africa laden with undeclared cash to the tune of almost $10m. Also arrested were two Nigerians and an Israeli citizen. READ: 1 SAMUEL 17:32-37
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

INSPIRATIONAL: SOMEONE IS WATCHING!
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. And he was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practised in the wood but he could never hit the target. And getting a little discouraged, he headed back to dinner.
As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.
In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching. Sally had seen it all,but she said nothing. After lunch that day grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen today, didn't you Johnny?" And then she whispered to him"Remember, the duck?"

Breaking: Nigeria military Alpha Jet (NAF 466) bombing Boko Haram missing
An Alpha Jet (NAF 466) belonging to the Nigerian Air Force and involved in the counter insurgency operation against the extremist Boko Haram sect has gone missing around Adamawa State.
The spokesperson of the Defence Headquarters, Chris Olukolade, a Major general, said the aircraft, with two pilots onboard, went missing on Friday. In a statement early Sunday, Mr. Olukolade said the aircraft “left Yola at about 10:45a.m on 12 September 2014 on a routine operational mission and was expected back by 12:00 noon”.
“Since then, all efforts to establish contact with the aircraft have not yielded any positive result,” the statement said. Mr. Olukolade said search and rescue effort had since commenced “to establish contact with the crew”.

Who is incharge of Bama: A microcosm of our dilemma - Gumi
Bama women, children ‘dying’ of hunger as Boko Haram tightens grip on town
Who is incharge of Bama? Nobody can reliably say. It's 'charge and run' for Boko Haram and the Nigerian army but this means Bokoo Haram has gained considerable confidence and may have finally dislodged Sambisa forest. This is happening when our politicians are busy with empty maneuvers to win elections. This is happening when unscrupulous individuals and fake organizational leaders are endorsing failure after failure. While others have overnight turned into praise singers.
Northern politicians are the most pitiable. The latest I heard they are scrambling for the VP position in their wildest dream. A VP is a spare tyre and what they don't comprehend is that in Nigeria it's a taboo for a deputy to be a heir to the throne. It's just one step as it appears but a giant one for that matter. Someone at the bottom of the ladder may reach it easily while you remain swinging aspiring for a soft landing.

INSPIRATIONAL: BENEFITS OF STRUGGLING !
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole.
Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.

INSPIRATIONAL: MAKE LOVE A PART OF YOUR LIFE!
Once upon a time all feelings and emotions went to a coastal island for a vacation. According to their nature, each was having a good time. Suddenly, a warning of an impending storm was announced and everyone was advised to evacuate the island.
The announcement caused sudden panic. All rushed to their boats. Even damaged boats were quickly repaired and commissioned for duty.
Yet, Love did not wish to flee quickly. There was so much to do. But as the clouds darkened, Love realised it was time to leave. Alas, there were no boats to spare. Love looked around with hope.
Just then Prosperity passed by in a luxurious boat. Love shouted, “Prosperity, could you please take me in your boat?”
“No,” replied Prosperity, “my boat is full of precious possessions, gold and silver. There is no place for you.”

INSPIRATIONAL: JUST BE YOURSELF!
In life, it doesn't matter from where you are coming, where you are going or how you are going to get there? Aside from what you want to accomplish, what kind of a person do you want to become as a result of all the work and effort? People who achieve great things in life are invariably those people who give a lot of thought to their own evolution and growth.
These people are like master craftsmen, constantly shaping and polishing their lives to become more worthwhile and important. Great thinkers become exceptional by design, not by accident. What really motivates them?
I wonder what, rather who, motivated these self-made men and great minds like Walt Disney, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Thomas Edison, Isaac Newton! It’s difficult to think what will motivate you.
We are often asked this question- 'Who is your role model?' I think hard. Really hard. I think of great people and ask myself, will this great philosopher really influence me? Do I want to become like him? In my head, the answer is always a 'No.' in my honest opinion; a person himself can motivate or de-motivate himself.

INSPIRATIONAL: NEVER JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE'S SCAR, YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN!
Some years ago on a hot summer day in south Florida a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.
He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming toward the shore. His mother in the house was looking out the window saw the two as they got closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother, but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.
Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal. And, on his arms, were deep scratches where his mother's fingernails dug into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.

INSPIRATIONAL: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF...
There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be.
That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down.
But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgements and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself.
There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.
Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are.
So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be.
Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Britain Will Never Give In To Terrorism - Cameron
David Cameron tells Sky News that Britain will not pay ransoms for kidnapped British hostages
British PM David Cameron has condemned the "sickening and brutal" murder of US journalist Steven Sotloff by a man he said appears to be British. The PM told the Commons the ordeal of a British hostage understood to be held by the same group of Islamic State (IS) militants was "unimaginable".
In a video showing the purported murder of Mr Sotloff, the killer showed the hostage, described as British. Mr Cameron said: "This country will never give in to terrorism. Our opposition to ISIL (Islamic State) will continue at home and abroad.

In a video showing the purported murder of Mr Sotloff, the killer showed the hostage, described as British. Mr Cameron said: "This country will never give in to terrorism. Our opposition to ISIL (Islamic State) will continue at home and abroad.

INSPIRATIONAL: I HAVE LEARNED....?
I have learned that you shouldn’t compare yourself to the best others can do.
i have learned that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I have learned that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I’ve learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I’ve learned that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I’ve learned that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

INSPIRATIONAL: WHEN MARRIAGE GROWS OLD
It is the joy of every child seeing their old parents living in harmony, relating as if they just married yesterday. Marriage is always sweet at old age especially when the couples maintain the integrity and standard of marriage. Before marriage grows old as expected, many waters might have passed under the bridge.
The time of sacrifices are uncountable, what of several sleepless night due to one’s spouse behavior, the time you will go on compulsory fasting when you cannot put something on the table for your children to eat, the rolling tears when the challenge seems unending, threat of intruder is also there, families and in-laws disagreements are not left out, disappointment and heartbroken will also show up, fear of unknown future etc. likewise, we have time of joy and happiness. ,
The experiences of marriage before it grows old is not always smooth, but if you can open your mind, it is a school of life that worth passing through.

North central, Northwest, Northeast and Southeast are still mobilising signatures that will asked GEJ to carry go.
Are all these signatures real or imaginary? If they actually are, how much exchange hands?
I remember Late General Sani Abatcha days when all political parties endorsed him and some even organized 1million match for him in Abuja to deceive him.

Stephen Davis's Allegations: No smoke without fire - Abubakar Gumi
Stephen Davis was explicitly clear. Modu Sharif and Ihejirika are sponsors of Boko Haram but now they can no more control the group. In the past they pinpoint targets to be hit. I presume the later more especially than the former being a civilian. Just recently Sheriff after meeting president Goodluck said: “I’m not a security man. Whatever that as civilian, I can do using my position as the chief executive of the state for eight years and what I have seen during my tenure, I will contribute to the security agencies through whom I got those information" Daily Trust 16th august 2014.
It's no secret that the security agencies have committed atrocities in Borno which they deny, so since Modu gets his information from them not directly from his kinsmen it's no surprise that what ever ambition he dreams of getting from collaborating with people annihilating his own clan and brothers will becloud his reasoning.
For these young immature suddenly rich politicians, it's easy to sway them with the fantasy of being aided to be the next president or next that. With them the lack of the intellectual capacity to know the contraptions of power struggle is legendary.

Defence of alleged Boko Haram sponsors: Fani-Kayode's comments hasty, indecent - Dino Melaye
Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode |
The last time I checked, Mr. Fani-Kayode was not a duly-constituted independent Commission of Inquiry to investigate the allegations by the Negotiator. One therefore wonders how he could so quickly exonerate any of those who were fingered by Dr. Davis purely on the basis of sheer sentiments, as well as unbridled hatred for the APC
What Mr. Fani-Kayode's desperate moves have shown is that the earth-shaking revelation by President Jonathan's Negotiator has unnerved his party, the PDP, and the Administration. It has shown the veracity of the saying that when you point one finger at someone, four others are pointing at you.
THE GRAVE ALLEGATIONS OF STEPHEN DAVIS BY FANI-KAYODE
I read the grave allegations made by an Australian by the name of Mr. Stephen Davis about those that he believes are behind Boko Haram in the 29th August edition of Thisday Newspaper. He made some very serious allegations, he mentioned names and I would be interested in seeing the hard evidence that he claims to have.
I have always said that I believe that anyone, no matter which political party that person belongs to and no matter how highly placed or powerful that person may be, that is involved with Boko Haram ought to be captured, caged, flogged and brought to justice because I regard such people as nothing but bloodthirsty beasts.
I have also always said that I believe that some of the leading members of the opposition APC are secret sponsors and supporters of Boko Haram and I am glad that Mr. Davis appears to share this view and that he has indeed confirmed my worst fears in his celebrated interview with Arise TV.

Hold President Jonathan responsible if Ebola cases worsen in Nigeria, APC tells Nigerians
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Nigerians must hold President Goodluck Jonathan personally responsible if the Ebola Virus Disease spreads more than it has done in the country, after he failed to stop a rally in his support in Port Harcourt on Saturday, despite warning from individuals and groups.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said never before has a President of a country sabotaged his own Administration's policy and endangered the lives of his compatriots as President Jonathan has done over the issue of Ebola.

INSPIRATIONAL: THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO STOP DOING TO YOURSELF....
* Stop Running From Your Problems and Procrastinating. Problems don’t go away on their own. You can either make them go away or live with them. If you know you can’t live with them, then don’t procrastinate because the weight of them on your mind only increases over time. If you have a problem, then accept that you have a problem and face it, deal with it. Life is a long list of problems that must be overcome. The faster and better you overcome them, the better and happier your life will be.
* Stop Lying To Yourself. People will lie to you left and right throughout your life; don’t add to the pile of lies. It is one thing for others to be lying to you and an entirely different issue if you’re lying to yourself. You are the only person that you can trust…but if you have a habit of lying to yourself, then you can’t even trust yourself. You have to be able to rely on yourself and on what you believe. If you know something to be false, then stop convincing yourself that it is or could possibly be true. Improbable is one thing, but impossible is another.

BREAKING NEWS: Enugu State Deputy Governor Sunday Onyebuchi Impeached
The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Sunday Onyebuchi, has been impeached.
Mr. Onyebuchi was removed from office Tuesday by the State House of Assembly lawmakers, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports. His sack followed the adoption this morning of the report of the seven- man panel which probed the allegations levelled against him by the law makers.
The assembly accused the embattled deputy governor of disobeying Governor Sullivan Chime on several occasions and allegedly operating a commercial poultry at his official residence.
The Impeachment motion was moved by Hon. Udo Okoye, representing Awgu North state constituency during the house plenary, and was endorsed by 21 out of the 24 member Peoples Democratic party PDP house.

Israeli warplanes hitting two Gaza City highrises
Gaza City (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) - Israel upped pressure on Hamas Tuesday, with warplanes hitting two Gaza City highrises on day 50 of their conflict as the warring parties mulled a new Egyptian truce proposal.
There appeared to be little outward sign, however, of interest in the Egyptian proposal which seeks to broker a more permanent end to seven weeks of fighting in Gaza which has so far killed 2,336 Palestinians and 68 on the Israeli side.
Several back-to-back truce agreements which brought relief to millions earlier this month, collapsed in a storm of violence on August 19, with the renewed fighting killing another 115 Palestinians and an Israeli child.
Israel, which pulled its negotiating team out of the Cairo talks a week ago, has repeatedly said it would not negotiate under fire, conditioning a return to the table on a complete halt to cross-border rocket fire.

'War' on Ebola could take six more months says UN envoy
FREETOWN: The UN's Ebola envoy said on Monday (Aug 25) the fight against the epidemic was a "war" which could take six more months, as its global health body claimed the disease was affecting an "unprecedented" number of medical staff.
David Nabarro, a British physician appointed by the United Nations to coordinate the global response to the crisis, was in Sierra Leone's capital Freetown for the fifth day of a tour of the region.
"The effort to defeat Ebola is not a battle but a war which requires everybody working together, hard and effectively," he told a news conference. "I hope it will be done in six months but we have to do it until it is completed."

INSPIRATIONAL: BE ENTHUSIASTIC!
What’s the difference between someone who feels old and tired and someone who feels young and energetic? Well, physical age plays some role, but it’s not the most important thing. After all, there are people in their 80's and 90's who skydive and run long distances on a regular basis, and there are people in their 20's who sit around being bored and depressed. There’s some factor that’s much more influential than age or physical condition, and that factor is enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm makes life more vibrant, more alive, more fulfilling. Enthusiasm makes you more effective, more fun to be around, more persuasive, more open to the best possibilities, and more energetic. Enthusiasm makes the difference between an outstanding career and a mediocre one. It adds great quantities of positive energy to everything it touches.

Defeat: Why United may play rest of season behind closed doors
Following a defeat and a draw in their first two games of the season, the club decided that continuing scrutiny is only getting everyone down.
Manager Louis van Gaal said: “Anyone expecting to see exciting, end-to-end football the way United used to do it is only going to be disappointed, and why should we have to put up with their miserable faces?
“No spectators will be allowed through the gates, apart from anyone with a cheap season ticket at the back of the top tiers who can’t see anything anyway.

World's longest ectopic pregnancy: How India doctors remove foetus left inside mother for 36 years
New Delhi (AFP) - Doctors in India have removed the skeleton of a foetus that had been inside a woman for 36 years in what is believed to be the world's longest ectopic pregnancy, a doctor has said. The 60-year-old woman became pregnant at the age of 24 but suffered a miscarriage because the foetus had been growing outside of her uterus, the doctor told AFP on Monday.
The woman, from a poor rural area of central India, was "terrified" of having surgery at the time to remove the remains of the foetus, and instead sought medication for the pain at a local clinic.
Although the pain gradually subsided, it returned years later, forcing the woman to seek medical help in a city hospital, Murtaza Akhtar said.
"She came to us complaining of pain in the abdomen," said Akhtar, head of surgery at the N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences in the city of Nagpur.
"This is a case in which the woman got pregnant outside the uterus. She told us she was pregnant in 1978 and it was a mature pregnancy," he said.

INEC to rescheldle registration points for eligible voters in FCT and 11 states
INEC PRESS STATEMENT
This phase of the exercise, which commenced on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014, involved the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 11 states namely Yobe, Bauchi, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kwara, Anambra, Ebonyi, Ondo, Oyo Delta and Cross River.
Much as the Commission is eager to ensure that all legitimate persons who are yet to register as voters have the opportunity to do so, it is logistically impossible to extend this phase of the CVR beyond its scheduled deadline (i.e., Monday, August 25th, 2014).
But in order to give fair chance to legitimate registrants, the Commission will, on a date to be shortly announced, set up registration points at its Local Government Area (LGA) offices where people yet to do so can go to register.
INEC notes with deep regret that old tendencies towards irregularity, such as partisans urging people to come out and do multiple registrations, largely accounted for the crowd clusters lingering at registration points set up for the CVR by the Commission. Many other people who have relocated since the last registration exercise and only needed to apply for their registration status to be transferred to their new location also turned up for fresh registration. When data are consolidated and de-duplication is carried out by INEC, all instances of multiple registrations will yet be eliminated. But, unfortunately, these sets of people obstructed legitimate registrants from having their turn at the registration points.

BOKO HARAM: Soldiers flee to Cameroon, Nigerian military says its ‘tactical manoeuvre’
The Nigerian military has admitted that hundreds of government troops have fled heavy fighting with Boko Haram, but said their apparent escape to neighbouring Cameroon was a “tactical manoeuvre”.
The Cameroonian army said Monday some 480 Nigerian soldiers who sought refuge in the country, had been disarmed and accommodated in schools.
The news came a day after Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, released a new video in which he declared Gwosa, a town captured by the group, as part of an “Islamic Caliphate”.
A spokesperson for the Army spokesperson, Lt. Col Didier Badjek, was quoted by the BBC as saying that the Nigerian soldiers are currently in the Cameroonian town of Maroua, about 80km from the Nigerian border.

BOKO HARAM AND GENOCIDAL TREATMENTS BY FASEYIKU
On the day Channel the programme "Nigeria's Hidden War" was aired by Channel 4, I could not watch it because of the monstrosity and savagery of the treatment of alleged or assumed Boko Haramists. Twice after that broadcast I have tried but woefully failed due to personal distress to watch the recorded episode completely. Each time I tried, I stopped when my heart cannot stand to bear what I was seeing. I still cannot bring myself to terms with the extra-judicial punishment and torture inflicted on fellow humans and fellow citizens.
I felt appalled and severely distressed that one human being could inflict such life threatening savagery against another all in the name of curbing terror or curbing insurgency. No crime, I repeat, no crime is worth even the minute punishment without the direction or supervision of judicial authorities, not to talk of subjecting a human being to such potentially life-terminating and degrading treatments.
I am ashamed of my Nigerianness in that my own country has chosen not to address this appalling crimes at the very highest levels and bring the perpetrators to book. Till date, the response from the Nigerian authorities to the broadcast has been muted.
Thousands of Nigerian flee to Cameroon after Boko Haram attack
A Boko Haram attack on a border town in northeast Nigeria forced thousands of people to flee on Monday, in a fresh assault indicating the militants' growing ability to strike at will.
The attack on Gamboru Ngala comes after the town was almost entirely destroyed in May in a devastating assault that also left more than 300 people killed and prompted outrage at the lack of military response.
Many local residents sought refuge across the border in the north Cameroon town of Fotokol, where troop reinforcements were being sent, a security service source told AFP.
Boko Haram, which has been blamed for more than 10 000 deaths in a five-year-old uprising, has in recent weeks sought to take over a number of towns in Borno state, shifting from hit-and-run tactics to an apparent holding strategy.
The group's leader, Abubakar Shekau, declared in a video obtained by AFP on Sunday that the town of Gwoza, southwest of Gamboru Ngala, was now under an Islamic caliphate.

French PM Manuel Valls resigns amid economy row
French PM Manuel Valls has submitted the government's resignation to President Francois Hollande and has been asked to form a new cabinet.
The government was badly shaken on Sunday by criticism over its handling of the economy by economy minister Arnaud Montebourg.
Moments after Mr Valls's resignation Mr Hollande issued a statement.
He asked Mr Valls to set up a new cabinet "consistent with the direction [Mr Hollande] has set for the country".
President François Hollande orders cabinet reshuffle amid economy row
France was thrown into fresh crisis on Monday after President François Hollande asked his prime minister to form a new government following an open feud within his cabinet over the country’s economic direction.
The president ordered Prime Minister Manuel Valls to form a new cabinet "consistent with the direction [Hollande] has set for the country," the presidency said in a statement.
It did not give any reasons, but the move comes after Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg spent his weekend bad-mouthing the country's economic direction and ally Germany in a much-criticised show of insubordination.
